"Is Heather about me?" Austin found himself asking. Kid Krow has been out for a year now and they were celebrating it's first birthday when Austin found it in him to ask.

Conan looked up at him and rolled his eyes, "No. Why?"

Austin shrugged as August gulped down her beer, reaching for another bottle, needing something stronger to get her through this conversation. Gracie watched her in concern, but swallowed her fears when Austin spoke up again, "I mean, I gave you my sweater on December third, I kissed you on New Year's, and then I slept with someone called Heather."

The singer squinted at Austin, "If you think it's about you, why would you ask?" Austin shrugged again, leaning backwards.

"She's not prettier," Austin murmured.

The actress bit her lip and excused herself to the kitchen. Her girlfriend followed her and saw as she took out a bottle of liquor, pouring her cup until the drink reached the brim then sipping it, grimacing at the taste.

"August," The singer made herself known.

August looked up at her girlfriend with a lazy smile, "Hey, baby. I'll be out in a second."

Gracie took a deep breath, her heart pounding with anticipation. With gentle concern in her eyes, she began, "August, there's something important I need to talk to you about. You... Lately, you've started drinking more and I don't know, I'm just worried."

August's face tightened with surprise, and a defensive wall seemed to rise within her. "What are you talking about, Gracie? I don't have a problem. I'm just enjoying life, having a good time. Isn't that what we're supposed to do at our age?"

Gracie tried to maintain her calm and reassuring demeanor. "I understand that, August, and I don't want to judge you. But I care about you, and I've seen how alcohol has started to affect your life. It's not just about having a good time anymore; it's becoming more frequent and intense."

August crossed her arms, looking away. "I can handle it, Gracie. It's my life, my choices. I don't need you or anyone else telling me what to do. I'm fine."

Gracie's voice trembled with genuine concern. "Lilac, I'm not trying to control you. I just want you to be aware of the potential dangers and consequences. Drinking excessively can impact your health, relationships, and overall well-being. I don't want to see you hurting yourself or pushing away the people who care about you."

August's defenses remained intact. "You're overreacting, Gracie. I know my limits, and I can handle it. It's not as serious as you're making it out to be."

Gracie's eyes welled up with tears, but she remained determined. "August, I've always been here for you, supporting you through everything. I just hope you can trust me enough to consider my perspective. Let's work through this together, as we always have."

Silence settled between them, and August's rigid posture began to soften. After a moment, August sighed and met Gracie's gaze, vulnerability flickering in their eyes. "I... I appreciate your concern, Gracie, but I'm fine, I-" She cut herself off, looking at Gracie, "Relationships?" She repeated, searching Gracie's eyes for any regret. "Is that it? Am I ruining our relationship? Is that what you mean? I can stop, I can. I promise. I can."

Gracie reached out and gently squeezed August's hand. "Lilac, I don't want you to stop for me, I want you to stop for you."

August nodded as she looked down at her cup. The drink felt heavy as she poured it down the drain, looking down at Gracie's smile. "I'm sorry," August murmured fearfully. She was turning into her biggest fear. "I'm sorry."

Gracie bit her lip and walked towards August, leaning up to kiss her softly. "Don't worry about it. Just please take it slowly?" August nodded guiltily, rubbing her hand with the fabric of her trousers, leaving it red and raw. Gracie hadn't noticed, "Come on. I think we should leave those two to talk. Let's go nap."

August let herself be dragged up the stairs and to her bed where Gracie pulled her down on top of her. August rolled to the side and snuggled into Gracie's neck, trailing her hands down the latter's torso then back up.

Gracie shivered when August's fingers grazed her abs and bit her lip, "On second thought, we don't have to nap."
