Gracie was hurt.
No, she was pretty sure her heart had shattered in her chest. And August had just walked right all over the pieces. Over them like they were a bridge to Bran. Every movement hurt. Every breath. It felt like she was dying. She felt like Bella after Edward left.
Conan had walked her back to the VIP box, where August was singing King of My Heart cuddled into Bran's side, and she nearly broke down again. And whilst her current hatred for August was deep, her love for her was all the more deeper.
She blinked back her tears and tried to enjoy the rest of the show, but couldn't. Not when Bran was holding onto August. Not when he got to kiss her as the song ended. Not when August was ready for Bran but not for her.
Conan's hand found her shoulder and Gracie found herself smiling up at him.
With the help of Conan, Gracie found herself enjoying seeing Taylor live again and was jumping up and down in her spot, giggling like a child as she and Conan sang to each other melodramatically.
August found herself frowning and feeling sick. Like she had had way too much alcohol, but then her head was hurting and she suddenly felt nauseous. She blinked, feeling fatigued, leaning on Bran for support.
Bran smiled, not realising how she was putting all of her weight on him, and kissed her head affectionately.
