37 A simple confession
(Sea POV)
I have a lot on my mind these days and between his current study and my problematic love life.
Aj finds me morosely cleaning his camera. I tell him that I can't figure out the answer to his question of whether I'm ready to deal with Nong'Jimmy's issues, so he invites me to drink with him.
We are also with other friends. We were there at the bar owned by First's cousin.
There was drinking and talking and one of the topics was about me and Nong'Jimmy.
I admitted to them that I like Nong'Jimmy and I was afraid that he would reject me if I told him my feelings.
Aj was the only one who pushed me to confess to Nong'Jimmy because I might be preceded by others.
Also, Nong'Jimmy doesn't have a girlfriend because he's too busy in his life.
I tell them that I can't stop liking Nong'Jimmy even though he tried, confessing that I just keep liking him more and more. Luis asks what I like about Nong'Jimmy, and I say with a sigh, “I don't know. I don't know what I like about Nong'Jimmy, or why I like him."
We also talked about Nong'Mile and Nong'Apo. They got married suddenly.
Nong'Apo just called us to go to the hotel resort because he is getting married to Nong'Mile.
We are happy for them. And before we went home, we talked about our on-the-job training which is next week.
We stumble home, and when I try to direct Aj to his room, he shoves me away. I careen into the Information desk, knocking his camera to the floor and breaking it. Terrified, I shove the pieces under the desk.
The next morning, Aj finds the pieces of his camera and starts screaming at everyone. He accuses me, then Luis, of breaking the camera, he calls Pawin to accuse him. They say it wasn't them, but I just stood there looking like I was going to throw up.
I said goodbye to them and that I'm going home. I can't tell him that I'm the reason his camera broke.
I also passed Nong'Jimmy at 711 where he works part-time.
I also had a part-time job there, sometimes my parents froze my card so Nong'Jimmy helped me.
In the beginning, it's hard but in the long run, it's not anymore.
I was already at 711 when he saw me. He leaves me at the counter while he goes to organize the shelves. A customer comes in and demands that I fetch him a soda and candy bar, but I object. He snaps that I have to do what the customer says, calling me a rude part-timer. I look ready to leap over the counter at him, but Nong'Jimmy gets the guy his items and smooths things over. He throws some money at me and drops his candy wrapper on the floor, saying that I pay includes cleaning.
After he leaves, Nong'Jimmy tells me that the customer owns a restaurant across the street and that he's always like that, so it's best to just avoid him. I exclaim that Nong'Jimmy is a pushover.
Nong'Jimmy answers a call from him, who instructs him to bring five servings of Pad Thai to his restaurant. I follow Nong'Jimmy into the restaurant and witness him yelling at Nong'Jimmy for being late and then tossing some cash on the floor. Seeing Nong'Jimmy forced to kneel is more than I can tolerate, so I park Nong'Jimmy at a table and request service. I order their meat cooked, even though they're supposed to grill it themselves. He balks, and I repeat his words that he's supposed to do as the customer says. He objects to me, but I just trill that I thought customers were supposed to talk down to employees. I blow my nose into a tissue and drop it on the floor, giving him an angelic smile as I say that cleaning is included in the cost of the meal. I fake great offense at the way he speaks to me, and when I start to draw attention from other customers, he reaches out to touch my shoulder. I gasp loudly, clutches my shoulder, and accuses him of hitting a teenager. I pretend to be injured, and I wail at the top of my lungs as he flounders. I get him to mumble a nervous apology to us, complete with deep bows. I inform him that Nong'Jimmy may seem like a fool, but he's his mother's precious child and shouldn't be treated badly. I warn him not to do it again, and my shoulder makes a sudden, miraculous recovery.
Nong'Jimmy says thank you, enough for what I did for him, and I tell him not to let people take advantage of him anymore.
He just smiled and thanked me again.
"I want to see the old Nong'Jimmy I used to know," I said and we went back
The next day at school, Aj shuffles class sadly after learning that his camera is too damaged to be fixed. He tells us that the camera's name is Olivia, and. He starts to cry, which sets me off, and we both sob Olivia's name.
That night, I have a nightmare that Aj's broken camera, Olivia, is sitting on my bed crying. Olivia sobs that Aj loved her and I ruined everything, and she asks how long I can hide the truth. She creeps up my belly towards my face as blood begins to seep from her lens. I understandably freaked out, and I thought of telling Aj that I was the one who broke his camera so the next morning I told him that I was the one who broke his camera. My conscience can't take it anymore.
He told me that Olivia is okay, she has recovered.
He said he forgives me and at least he knows that I have a conscience.
Later I received a call from my application on the job training that I can start tomorrow.
So are my friends. We decided to go to the library for our report.
We even encountered Nong'Apo and Nong'Neo who were still avoiding Luis.
They are still not okay. Nong'Neo is just casual with Luis, when Luis talks to him he ignores him.
We were the only ones he noticed besides Luis.
Nong'Boom said that Nong'Bible has a new children's show with Nong'Jimmy.
Nong'Jimmy's character is a baby octopus.
I go in the next morning for my first day at work, where I was told that I'll be working in the entertainment department. I announce my name to the room, but only one reporter speaks to me. She sneers that I'm not working yet.
They made me do a lot and when I asked, it was as if they made me look like I was stupid.
I thought that I wish I had done on-the-job training at our company and at least there they wouldn't make me look stupid.
Later I met Nong'Jimmy in a baby octopus costume. I suddenly thought of hugging him.
"P'Sea," as I hugged him.
He asked me what my problem was and I told him.
"P'Sea, If you can't do what you like because you're worried about this and that, will your life be happy? Won't you regret it later? What's wrong with failing and stumbling? You can start over, right?” I stare at Nong'Jimmy, and he apologizes for being nosy again.
"Nong'Jimmy thank you," he just smiled.
I know it's bad timing but I can't hide my feelings for him anymore.
"Do you know Nong'Jimmy? They ask me why I like you and I can't answer their question. But now I know the answer. I just like you, without a reason. And I just love you." His face was shocked at what I said.
