Chapter sixty-four

Olivia's pov:
May 2023

It was that time of the year again, time for the Monaco grand prix and time for Charles' home race. After the grand prix in Miami we were supposed to fly to Italy a week later, but because of the heavy rainfall which followed by flooding in the entire Emilia-Romagna region the race had been canceled. It was heartbreaking seeing that beautiful part of Italy being overflooded, and hearing that some people even had died.. - We donated a good amount of money to help where we could..

So because we couldn't go to Imola we flew directly home to Monaco where Charles could focus on the next race, and I could relax more in homely surroundings which was exactly what I felt I needed.

Today is friday and we had arrived a bit earlier to the track than usual, because we wanted to come and support Arthur for qualifying today, since he's driving in formula 2 this year. So that's what we did, we arrived at the track and walked down the paddock to find Arthur with his team and Lorenzo were also here. We greeted the boys and then catched up a bit. It was wonderful to see Charles's brothers again, since it had been quite a while. Tomorrow Pascale and Arthur's girlfriend Carla are coming as well, so I'm gonna be watching the qualifying together with them and the boys. Which is gonna be really nice.

We watched Arthur driving and he did great in the beginning, but in turn 19 he crashed.. he had a little too much oversteering which caused him to lose grip and crash into the barrier. Thankfully he was doing alright, and returned back to the garage in good condition.

"Hey.. looks like the Monaco curse runs in the family" Arthur said as he walked up to us after talking shortly with his race engineer and a few others.. "don't say that Arth" Charles said and hugged his brother. "It's my first time racing here and I've already crashed.. it has to be the curse that's coming after me now" he said and looked annoyed by the crash which is very understandable.. "You were just unlucky, and you will do just fine tomorrow" Enzo said, and Charles nodded trying to cheer up their little brother. "I agree with your brothers Arth, this happens to every driver sometimes.. just look at your big brother for example last time in Miami" I said and he let out a little laugh."Hey, not fair.. But she's right" Charles said and laughed. "Hmm sure, I just wanna do my best since it's my first time racing here at home" he said. "Of course, I know the feeling. And you will do that tomorrow, you just gotta focus on the next thing after today alright" Charles smiled, and Arthur nodded.

I watched the first two practices in formula one with Lorenzo and Arthur. Charles did very well so we were all happy. After the practice was done I decided to hang out with my best friend since he was in town as well, of course it was Daniel. So I met up with him in our apartment that I had mostly to myself this evening, since Charles is hanging out with Lorenzo and Arthur.

Charles pov:

Today was a great day. I got to witness my brother racing in the homely streets of Monaco for the first time, and then I raced there as well. It went alright, I was happy with the results and so was the team which is even more important for me.

I was now hanging out with my dear brothers since I wanted Olivia to hang out with her best friend alone. They offered me to come but I think it's healthy for us to do something apart once in a while. And I had also missed being around my brothers just like old days.

We were hanging out in Lorenzo's apartment, he had cooked some food for us which were delicious and exactly what I could use after a long day at the track. - "ehm Charles, you probably don't care anymore but did you see Charlotte today at the track?" Lorenzo asked, it had been years since we had talked about her last so I was a bit surprised he would mention her now. "No I didn't, why is she here? I mean I know she loves the sport and it's her home, but it just feels weird right?" I asked and took a sip of my water.. "yeah a bit, I didn't see her? Where was she?" Arthur asked, he looked just as surprised as me. "I didn't see her in person, but she was filming the cars really closely on instagram, and she was zooming in on you when you drove by" Lorenzo said.
"Okay that's just even weirder, I hope she stays away to be honest. I don't wanna see her again" I answered and thought about the time we had together in the past, and how she just left me like I was nothing.. "She better, Olivia is way better for you and now you're building this perfect life together" Lorenzo said. "I strongly agree! If she wants you back, she can forget it" Arthur said, and I couldn't agree more with them. I have the woman of my dreams who's carrying my children, she's  the one I'm gonna marry and the one I will spend the rest of my life with.
