A/N: So... I thought I'd be done with the smut for quite a while, but they decided otherwise. 😏
"Aaaaa! Screw that!" I grunted, dropping the gamepad on the table, staring at my monitor. "Why am I even trying? I know how bad I am at those games."
"That doesn't even look like fun."
I didn't turn around and just scowled. "It is. Sometimes. When everything falls into place and works just right. And you win."
The Master chuckled. "Yeah. Winning is always good."
"Is it, though?" I glanced upwards, then grabbed my gamepad again. A new try. "Winning means change. You unlock a new area. And you can't know what will wait there. It can be beautiful and exciting. Or... hmm... terrifying and lonely."
"Mhm... But if you only ever see the same things, it gets really boring, safe as it might be. And don't object, little one. I know you love to discover the unexpected as much as it scares you."
I laughed. Yeah, he was right. There was no way to deny it. Somehow I had grown fond of the new and even the danger. Push and pull. It was better than the stagnating life I had led before.
Yawning, I stretched and blinked at the monitor. Actually, I hadn't planned to play for that long, but knowing there was someone who watched was a weird motivation to keep going. Now though I shut down the PC and walked over to the bed.
The Master had sprawled out there, lying on his back, hands folded behind his head, watching me. His shoes were neatly sitting on the carpet. Oftentimes it was strange how the Master seemed to have perfect manners, even behaving quite gentleman-like. While, at other times, he was nothing but pure rage and chaos.
I squatted down in front of the bed, folding my arms on top of the blanket. "How about we switch? I go get a good nap and you beat that nasty boss for me."
"Pfff, I don't think so." He chuckled and flicked my head playfully. "Your reaction times are just bad. That's why you're struggling."
"Mhm, yeah. See? That's why you should beat it."
"And steal your hard earned victory?" He leaned closer and smiled. But it was a strangely sad expression that soon faded. "You're not asking."
I shrugged. "No. Told you I wouldn't."
"But you're curious."
"Cause I am." I laughed. "I always love to learn something new about you. Nine hundred years wandering time and space... and you tell nothing about it. Nothing about who you even are. Or who you were."
The smile returned to his face, a mixture of mock and amusement. "It doesn't matter."
"Yeah, it does."
"Would you know everything you'd be gone in the next second. I can't take that risk."
I sighed and shook my head. "Dunno how often I'll have to repeat that, but I'm not running. Not now and not if you tell me whatever. What did you do? Blow up a galaxy? Torture an entire civilisation? Eat some children for breakfast?"
