A/N: You have no idea how tempted I am to end the story here.
It would fit... although not all questions are answered. But you guys have creative minds, right? 😜
Maybe I will...
Life got... hard, recently and I'm facing some rough decisions that will literally shape my future. In good or bad ways... I don't know yet.
Not in a good place rn, honestly. But that's my own problem that I have to face alone, so don't lose any brain cells and just enjoy the story. ;D"Why not in the sea?" I asked. The lake looked nice enough, but why settle for less.
The Master considered it for a moment and an image popped into my mind, of him stripping naked right in front of everyone and revelling in their shocked reaction. I slapped against his shoulder, laughing and he giggled. "Don't tell me you wouldn't find it funny."
I did. Oh, I did. And it only took us seconds to decide to do it. We were back at the beach within minutes and, with a short nod, we stripped down completely and ran into the shallow waves, followed by Donna's indignant squeak. "What the flippin' hell are you thinking!" she accused and stemmed both fists into her sides when we both laughed.
"Come in," I called out. "The water's nice and cool."
"I'm not strippin' down like some... some... don't you have any dignity? At least you, Lucy!"
"Especially not me." I chuckled. It had never made too much sense to me why it was such a huge problem for people. They all looked more or less the same anyway. "Come in, you have your swimsuit anyway."
Donna was obviously torn. I could see it even through the splotches of water on my glasses. But in the end she gave up, pulled her dress over her head and waded into the water, balancing herself on the sand. "Ohhhh, it's warm! I thought this would be colder."
She waded around in the shallow water and finally swam a little out where I caught up with her, drifting on my back for a while. She splashed some water over me. "Get away, naked thing you!" she laughed.
I just giggled. "Eh, visit some nude beaches and you've seen everything. Then it's nothing special anymore."
Donna let out another indignant sound and also turned on her back. The water was denser than on earth or maybe just saltier, so it was quite easy to stay afloat. And for a while we did only that while the Master swam further out. The Doctor was nowhere to be seen and Donna told me he had been taking a stroll a while ago.
I enjoyed the water, it was my favourite element to be in, always had been. I couldn't even remember learning to swim. It was natural for me for as long as I was able to think back in time. And the sea had always been fascinating to me anyway. Maybe humans could regenerate too. I told myself to remember asking the Time Lords about rebirth at some point. But the thought slipped away when I suddenly got pulled below the water.
