A/N: Just lots of fluff and bickering. Can't help myself, it's too much fun to write them all being cute together. UwU
I'm jealous of them. (Or maybe just horribly touch starved)With the Master able to boss everyone around I also wasn't spared some duties. Not that I had any reason to complain. He showed me how to tie and untie the sails, what the different ropes were doing and many things more. Too many for me to keep up, but it was fun anyway. In the end we managed to get the ship properly sailing, without the use of any engines.
I proudly looked up at my work, admiring the sails fluttering in the wind. Kira appeared from somewhere, flying next to the middle mast. It looked so effortless, so free. All the training had done him good.
"Are you ever going to tell me how it's possible that I'm even able to access the void? Or how he is?" I pointed upwards. "I'm staying with you, yes, but I still want to know."
The Master looked at Kira and frowned. "I know as much about the dragon as you do."
"Then how did you know he could open a rift?"
The Master chuckled and nudged his shoulder against me. "I saw the books you were reading and put two and two together. I'm smart. Just in case you forgot."
I sighed. Of course he had found out on his own, I should have anticipated that.
It suddenly got warm in my back and then there were arms around my shoulders, gently dragging me backwards. The Master hummed in thoughts, maybe searching for the right words.
"I know how it is, when you lose someone important and you'd risk everything and everyone just to bring them back." He squeezed me. "But all you'll do is destroy yourself in the process."
"Oi! Moon boy! I caught something, but these aren't earth fish, no idea if they taste like anything." Donna shouted from across the ship, hurrying over to us with a bucket, the handle clasped in both hands. Something was thrashing inside, spilling water all over the deck.
The Master bent over the bucket as soon as she sat it down and inspected the catch. Donna grinned at me and winked. "When he's not stargazing, gramps loves to fish. Often took me with him and later we grilled it in the garden. Mum's not much of a fan of it, though. She always complained about the smell."
The Master rose with a wriggling small fish held at its rear fin. "Those are great. With some marinade you can just snack them when they're grilled. And the big one -" he pointed into the bucket - "it's called a Ghorolna, as far as I remember. Taste a bit like salmon. The rest's not that special, but if I toss them in a stew it won't matter."
Donna bounced up and down on her heels, her smile bright. "Aaaand?"
"What and?" the Master grunted.
"Saaay it!" she teased and he groaned.
"Good job, Donna Noble." His voice was dripping with sarcasm, but she still grinned even brighter and an involuntary smile was tugging at his lips. The Master scoffed and turned away, taking the bucket with him. "Get some more of the small ones and if you catch one that looks like a crossbreed between fish and crab... Save it. It's worth a fortune."
