Ominis

"Ominis, I'm sure she was only joking," Sebastian groaned, fixing and refixing his brown curls in the small mirror of their dorm room. "She has a strange sense of humor, that one."

"No, she does not," Ominis said immediately, adjusting his seat on the bony chair near his bed.

Right, she's perfect. Sebastian thought to mutter, but got distracted by a loose hair that would not comb down. "Plus, that was ages ago. Things change."

The two boys were waiting anxiously in their common room before the Pinnacle Party. Their other roommates, some might say less maintenance than them, had left much long ago, leaving the two boys to resume a conversation they've had over and over again.

"She sees me as a friend. And that is in her own words, Sebastian. I am not sure what she'd want with me anyways." Ominis shut his eyes tightly and turned his face to the ceiling, vividly remembering the chilly breeze of that Autumn night he had accidentally overheard your conversation with Poppy and Imelda.

"You're a stalker, Ominis. I ought to tell the school. But I won't. And only because you're my best friend." Sebastian continued, ignoring Ominis' self-deprecating tendencies whenever he referred to you.

"Go right ahead. And I will walk right in after, telling them they've just spoken to a dark arts enthusiast. I am sure that they will be quite pleased with their study body then."

"That's not funny, Ominis. Everything I do is in hopes of finding a cure for Anne." Sebastian barked back. Ominis was not sure how many times he had heard that exact sentence in the last semester.

"Right. I am sure of it." Ominis droned sarcastically, eyes still shut tight as he attempted to take his mind off of how uncomfortable his party attire was. If his wand was reading the correct time on his watch, there would be only 10 or so minutes before he was to pick you up for the party. Though, you did not have to walk far to get to it.

"Back to the subject at hand." Sebastian had moved on to hyper-fixating on the appearance of his tie now. "Last night, did you follow the moves I taught? Hold her arm when you escort her to the game and–"

"--and lean in to whisper in her ear, yes, yes, I did." Ominis finished his sentence, annoyed.

"Hm. Those tricks have never failed me. I must just be much better looking than you." Sebastian teased with a grin. Ominis opened his eyes and shot his general direction a cold scowl. "But she really did not, you know, stutter over her words? Or giggle hopelessly. Or confess her undying love for you?"

"Sebastian!" Ominis warned angrily. "She is not in love with me! And she kissed Garreth last night. Her first kiss!"

" First kiss ?" Sebastian gulped guiltily, he could not imagine a worse time to tell Ominis that that had been his dare for her, despite if it was really meant to go to Ominis. However, Ominis was much too distracted by his own grimace to hear the guilt in his best friend's voice. "It's not exactly like she could have said no."
