You could not remember falling asleep once your tired head hit the pillow, nor could you remember waking up and stretching out every sore limb before finally clamoring out. What you could remember, however, was the endless dreams of Ominis that had plagued you your entire tireless night. You could still feel his featherlight touches on you, the sound of his breath hitching as his hands roamed, or the feel of it warm against your skin. In your dreams, inhibitions swept away, you concocted a scenario in which Sebastian had not walked in on the two of you. And it was something that could not be pried out of your psyche, even if your life depended on it.
As you brushed your teeth to start the fateful Sunday, the thoughts which had been tormenting you the whole night, all came back to you in a sudden rush. You felt you had to grab the porcelain of the bathroom sink to keep from falling on suddenly helpless knees. When you looked back into the mirror in front of you, you felt the desire to hopelessly rub the tormenting flush away from your cheeks.
Besides that, you felt rather ill. Horribly inexperienced with drinking, and especially in that quantity, it seemed it did not matter how much water the responsible Ominis tried to flush down your system, you were destined to wake up with a hangover. Your head panged and your limbs felt heavy and as you returned back to your room, seeing his tie stick out from under your pillow, you began to groan again as you were reminded of your night-dreams. You silently wondered if your roommates had seen it as they slipped out in the morning, taking a deep prayer that they hadn't.
To your surprise, as you entered the astonishingly vacant hall for breakfast, someone appeared to look even more miserable than you. This was the largest gathering of people you had seen thus far in the castle as you had wandered to your meal, and you were beginning to panic a bit thinking you'd missed something.
You sat down across from the sickly-looking figure who was slumped over at the far edge of the Slytherin table. The hood of his robe was pulled up over just enough so that his brown curls did not escape from under it and he rested his head against his forearms in a great slump. Sebastian.
"You look positively awful." You murmured, taking two careful fingers to remove his hood as if it were a rabid animal that might bite you. Sebastian was sitting alone at the table. Something which did not seem too unusual as you could only see a few other people in the grand room at all.
"I feel worse." He grumbled. You noticed the food on his plate was entirely untouched so you buttered him a piece of toast and jutted it into his hand.
"Eat this. It'll make you feel better." You said as you began buttering your own, hoping to take some of your own advice to cure the ringing between your eyes. Sebastian sat up and looked at you as he took a moping bite from the bread
"You look well." He mumbled, "Did you have fun last night?"
You felt your cheeks flush again and cursed their lack of subtlety. Sebastian did not seem to notice, or at least paid no mind. He just continued to stare at you with the same deadpan expression. You wondered if he remembered what he walked in on and kept your answer brief. "Yes, I had a wonderful time. From the looks of it, you did too?"
For the first time, his freckled face gave way to a small grin as he recounted what he could remember from the night. "Gods, it was bloody brilliant. Danced with eight girls, made it back to the Hufflepuff common room, uh, er, came back from the Hufflepuff common room, almost made it to the Griffindor one. But her boyfriend came over, and, Merlin , I can't really remember past that."
You stared with wide eyes, not really sure what to make of the description you heard of his night. Nowhere did he mention Ominis's hands down your shirt, which seemed like something he definitely wouldn't have missed the opportunity to tease you for. What did he not remember from last night? And oh no, what might have Ominis not remembered from last night?
