Athena Jones

Every day had been the exact same for me this past week. It’s hard to believe that a whole week has already gone by since I started working with Malfoy. Time seems to have both flown by and dragged on. It feels like just yesterday when I found out about Theodore, and it’s been a week since I first met Ethan.

I’ve spent nearly every day with Malfoy, working on our project, which has been a bit of a struggle. He seems determined to be difficult, and I’ve had to bite my tongue more times than I care to count.

But in all this Malfoy induced headache Ethan is one good thing. He has taken it upon himself to walk me to my classes and accompany me to the Great Hall.

He is much better company than Malfoy, that's for sure. Talking with Ethan is easy, he's kind and funny, and he can actually hold a conversation without starting a fight.

It's a nice change of pace from always being on edge around Malfoy, but I can't help but feel the guilt every time I speak to Ethan. He's so nice, it almost feels wrong to be spending so much time with him since I'm not sure I'm completely over Theodore.

But then again, what harm is there in having a crush? I haven't even kissed Ethan, and it's not like I'm planning to get into a relationship anytime soon. I just enjoy the company of an attractive, funny guy who doesn't make me want to pull out my hair.

It's harmless, really. Besides, it's not like I'm actually planning to fall in love with him. I mean, I'm not even ready for anything serious right now. I'm just enjoying the attention and the company of someone who isn't constantly arguing with me.

Malfoy's face contorting with anger is an added bonus.

Malfoy has been eyeing us every chance he gets, It's like a game, seeing how long it takes for his frown to deepen.

Every time he catches us laughing or talking, his frown deepens, and his eyes narrow. It's like he's watching us to make sure he can interfere if we get too close.

And I'd be lying if I said he didn't interfere between me and Ethan more than once.

He always seems to show up out of nowhere whenever Ethan and I have a conversation. It's like he has a sixth sense for sensing when I'm having a nice time.

No matter where we are or what we're doing, Malfoy always manages to interrupt our conversations. He'll either loudly clear his throat to draw my attention, or he'll suddenly appear out of nowhere next to me, cutting Ethan off in mid-sentence.

He does it so smoothly, I have to wonder if he doesn't just magically appear there. It's almost impressive, if it weren't so infuriating.

Today though, I’m waiting outside Hufflepuff’s dormitory for Ethan, he asked me to give him a tour around the school, turns out he’s two years older than me and has transferred recently here.

Ethan would be here any minute now. I look around to pass time. After few minutes thankfully Ethan came out of the dormitory, with a smile as he looks at me “So what do you want to see first?” I ask Ethan.

“Well, you’re the tour guide, lead the way,” He smiles widely at me.

I notice Malfoy watching us from behind the pillar, I don’t acknowledge his presence at all as he stares at both of us, then he finally gives up on looking at me and starts wandering around the hallway.
