The cabin was enveloped in a heavy and suffocating silence, the only sound coming from the gentle rustling of leaves in the trees.

I was standing outside, my arms wound around myself in an attempt to keep out the cold night air. My mind was consumed by thoughts of Nicolas, while Hazel and William were out for wood.

The weight of everything that had happened in the past few days was crushing me, leaving me feeling lost and disoriented.

I wanted to call out for him, meet him. Why hasn't he come again?

Every second without him felt like an eternity, stretching and tormenting me. I missed the sound of his voice, the warmth of his touch, the way his eyes softened whenever he looked at me. I wanted to bury myself in his arms, to let him hold me, to forget all the pain and hurt that was festering inside me.

He's not coming...

I leaned against the wall of the cabin, the rough bark digging into my back. I closed my eyes, my teeth catching my lip. My hand reaching for the necklace around my neck.

My fingers tracing the outline of the pendant, the feel of the familiar shape of the heart...his heart

Where are you?

I tried to reason with myself, to tell myself that he was just busy, that he had duties and responsibilities that were keeping him away, there was a war going on, how is he supposed to make time.

Draco might be busy too, but he still comes by. Whenever I ask Draco about Nicolas he tenses up, tells me that he's busy, there's a lot going on, never tells me more than that, but then again he had never told me anything, clearly.

I found myself clutching onto the necklace tightly. Sighing to myself. It's alright,he's just busy, he hasn't forgotten about you  I told myself like everyday.

But there was a part of me, a treacherous little voice at the back of my mind, that whispered otherwise. It reminded me of the growing distance between us, of the way he had pulled away the last time we were alone.

He's avoiding you.

My heart clenched at the thought, the familiar feeling of self-doubt and insecurity crept in.

Then suddenly the air shifts, I froze.

My eyes flew open, my heart leaping into my throat. I pushed myself off the wall, I turned my head to see Nicolas standing just beside me, the hood of his cloak was hiding most of his face.

"You came" I whispered.

He removes his hood "You called" his eyes gesturing at the necklace I was still clutching onto tightly, now glowing red under my grip.

I release the necklace, letting it fall against my chest, embarrassed that he caught me clutching onto it. I didn't knew it could call for him.

I looked up at him, my eyes searching his face, trying to read the emotions there.

But his expression was guarded, his features schooled into a mask of indifference.

He takes a step closer to me, "Are you okay?" He instantly asked "Are you hurt?" His hand reached for my face.

My breath hitched at the feel of his hand cupping my face. I had missed his touch so much. "I'm fine- I'm fine," I say shaking my head, my hand holding onto his wrists.

He eyes me for a moment, his gaze searching mine, as if trying to determine if I was telling the truth.

He lowered his hand from my face, he took the one that was holding his wrist, "Good..."
