Athena Jones

When I woke up to an empty bed, I looked around pulling my head up from the pillow, where could he have to on a Christmas morning. I slipped out of the bed, looking out the window it was snowing. I smile to myself, like a bittersweet feeling, I was greatful to be not alone but I still whished I was with few of the people I loved more than anything in my life.

I wonder what my mother might be doing, is she thinking of coming back from Europe? Is she sad about dad? Is she crying for the first time since dad died? I wouldn't know.

I was getting lost in my thoughts, letting my mind wonder when I noticed my reflection from the window, I was wearing Draco's white shirt, my hair a mess.

I sighed to myself, looking back out the window, watching as the snowflakes swirled around in the cold air, before turning around and walking towards the bathroom.

After the warm shower a slight chill ran up my spine when I entered the room so I made my way to the closet where Draco had put my bag. I pulled a thick maroon coloured sweater and pair of trousers before making my way out of the room.

On my way downstairs I bumped into Narcissa, she looked tensed but quickly fixed her face up when she saw me "Merry Christmas to you" I smile at her

"Merry Christmas to you too," she responded with a soft smile, "I hope you slept well." She said softly.

"I did, thank you," I smile politely at her "How about you?" I ask and she gives a tight smile "I slept fine, dear," she says and I didn't believe her for a second.

"Where is everybody?" I ask, looking around the empty manor, there was no sound, it was as if I was the only one in here, Narcissa shifts uncomfortably as if she has something to say to me.

"They're busy working, setting up breakfast and clearing up from yesterday's ball" she says quickly

"Oh...okay," I say, "Do you need help?" I ask her, Narcissa shakes her head "No no, there's no need,"

"Are you sure? I would love to help," I say but Narcissa smiles softly, "No dear, you don't have to."
There was an awkward silence between us, Narcissa's fingers fidgeted in the silence and I could tell she had something else she wanted to say.

"Is...everything okay?" I ask, I could tell Narcissa was hiding something and I couldn't help but get worried about it, but she shook her head, "yes, everything's fine."

I knew she was lying and I couldn't help but feel sorry for her, it looked like she was so stressed out, what was going on in this house?

Narcissa sighed before speaking up again, in a soft tone, "Dear?"

"Yes?" I reply, watching as she looked down at her hands.

Her eyes were still locked on her hands, her lips trembling slightly as she spoke "I... I hope you enjoyed your time here." She says, finally raising her gaze and looking into my eyes, there was a certain sadness in her eyes that made my stomach twist, Narcissa looked upset like she needed a hug, but I just gave a stiff nod in response.

She looked at me with apologetic eyes, and she opened her mouth but before she could say anything, I saw Draco walking towards us. Narcissa looked at him with sadness in her eyes, Draco looked at me and gave me a tense smile before putting a hand around my waist and pulling me close to his side.

"There you are," I say to him with a smile

"Yeah," He says softly, there was a tension in the air and it felt like everyone was holding their breath.

"I'll see you later," Narcissa says before leaving.

I turn to Draco "Merry Christmas," my hands creased his jaw before pulling him down for a kiss
