1. Almost There

It's hot.

I feel like I am burning inside.

Ah... everything around me is burning...

Why am I looking at my hands... they're... there's blood on them...

"Enjoy your last meal offered from Lord Godwin!" the annoying sound of the bowls made of wood thrown inside the vagon with pieces of bread and cheese woke me up from the nightmare.

"I guess I won't have good sleep till I understand what happened to me" I told myself as I slipped my fingers through my hair.

"My Lady"

I felt the energy of my sword beating in line with my heart, yet it looked like keeping the connection with my energy was destroying my inside.

Something was wrong, terribly wrong in my body.

"Hue" I whispered "Tell me you have answers of the questions that trouble my spirit since I woke up"

"Find first a way to be left alone in a room, do not use any energy, I can't be used in your actual state"

"Yes I kinda noticed" I whispered ironically making him laugh a bit. Not like I felt like dying again, and he felt it too probably.

"You're not eating?" a young girl handed me some bread. I looked at the bread and then her.

I almost teared up, she smiled "It's not a problem, I ate some too! Don't get emotional for so less, you're older than me!"

"T-this... is food?" I asked crying and she probably got taken from panic for this less, because she started to laugh in a weird way.

"Y-yes, we have eaten this for a long time, it's not that bad!" she did insist on me getting that bread and eat it.

I slowly did bite it and I teared up even more "Right? Isn't it good?" she asked happily thinking mine was a good reaction.

"I miss... my... Lamian with hot soup and meat" I almost said it in a trance having memories of me cooking for my family. I used to love having meal with my family, sometimes I'd make my own.. experiments, Jing would smile and appreciate me, giving me a little pat on my head

...while Yanqing would thank me for training him even during family time to survive food poisoning.

"...You slept for three days, you need tons of energies, some thought we could eat you, but I am glad you're alive!" she blocked herself and I blocked myself from thinking about my cuisine.

"What?"

"What?"

"Three days?" I asked surprised

"Told you, you sleep always a lot"

Shut up, Hue.

"Dammit.. I must think of a way to get away from here" I whispered but the girl next to me laughed a bit.

"Still trying to escape? It's fine, we're in Luofu, if they know an outsiders got free in their forests or land in general, they'd probably send explorers to get those who did" she explained making me questioning my land law.

Since when we're that hostile to outsiders?

"Since when is... the Alliance against outsiders?" I asked curious and this girl turned her head on a side, like what I asked was something obvious.

She laughed a bit "Damn you must have been a kind of Soulmaster that decided to cut contacts with all the lands and live in one with nature" she sounded so much into a fake story of mine "but you got captured and made a slave, and destiny wanted you to suffer your ignorance of the two factions" she did stand "Arthos and the Alliance of Luofu" she put her hands close her chest with an enamoured stare, while the other slaves were eating and enjoying the little performance of the girl who was probably the age of my son "Split after the Unforgivable Fire happened five years ago where the city of Luofu was set on fire from the men of Godwin.. to make you face the people who suffered the fire and you didn't hear their call for help! Now you will have to face Jing Yuan's fury!" she stopped as she pronounced his name "That fine man, I wish he was my uncle"

I sighed "Do you like my husband?"

I froze, she did block herself from fantasizing. The people around me stopped for a second, then all started to laugh.

"Like that man would marry someone like you"

Wait what... I mean he did... but they do not know.

Grrr...

"Yeah, he has been with his wife for how long?" one of the slaves asked while trying to get the last little pieces of bread, making me bite my lips out of frustration.

Situations like this would never be accepted in my land.

"Gods know how long, it's told in this land that they both had a curse and a benediction from the ancestors... The Lightning Lord and the Ice Storm Lord, giving them longevity and the task to protect their land, at a price."

"How do you know so much about the story of these two" I asked, looking at this man, who stared at me with an obvious face

"Wouldn't you be curious about the lords who will decide your life and death from today?"

"Lord, she's dead" said another man "Fen Yuan died five years ago."

Fen Yuan died five years ago.

"It's kinda weird since the funeral of an Alliance General would have made history, but no one outside Luofu knows where the lady is now... are we sure she actually died?" asked one of the men

My heart skipped two, three beats. I felt like I couldn't catch air.

"Do you think an important pillar of the land would decide to disappear for five years? She's probably dead, that's all"

Did I sleep... this much?

Did I leave my land for this long?

Why did I wake up now? What happened, where was I all this time?

"We're about to enter in the city, do not call out that name again, it's forbidden to call her name since some years already." said a man, making us notice we were about to enter the gates of the city.

"Yes, do not call him even your next husband, I guess you could end up without life energy in your body" a man said laughing with another, making me nod a little bit.

"She's probably a fan too" the girl said taking my hands in hers "I am 12 years old, but we do have a lot in common, we can be friends!" she said happily and I froze in place.

I just made my first friend in this new body and life.

and she's twelve years old.

Great.

"So what's your name?" she asked and I hesitated a bit.

"I am... uhm... Bai Hu" I said with a smile and she did nod to then smile super happily

"My name is Alysia!" she said posing in a funny way, making me smile, enjoying her positive energy "My surname doesn't count anymore since my family sold me to his majesty to bring me here!" she said happily, making me stare at her, feeling the pain of a mother who has lost five years of his son.

A daughter who has been sold to be a slave in another land.

Yet she smiles, she makes people laugh, she probably was the typical chaotic troublemaker in the house.

Such a lively creature they decided to chain and send away...

My trembing hands reach out her shoulders, making me push her close to me for a hug

"You're so strong Alysia"
