Price ordered us to clean up the base after trash flew in from some harsh wind, so we all find metal trash grabbers and pick up cans. I find a few straggling cans and drop them into my trash bag
"Question.."
Ghost voice comes up from behind me
"did you go to college? Or is that why you went to the military? Because you didn't go"
I'm not sure if he's calling me dumb and I should be offended by his words, or if he was just genuinely asking
I turn my face to him with my eyebrows raised and a curious smirk tugging at the corner of my mouth
"I was a Valedictorian, Ghost"
"Yea? Whats your GPA then?"
He tilts his head, not believing me
I give him a smirk before answering
"It's 4.3"
"You're lying"
he squints his eyes and puts down his trash bag
"Oh so you're saying I'm not smart?"
"No. I just don't think you're THAT smart. There's a difference"
He says cockily
"So you're saying I'm not smart. I- boy I'm about to punc-"
"That's enough. Leave her alone Simon. Don't be mad that she has a higher GPA than you."
Price says as he warns him to back off
Ghost snaps his head towards price
"Just asking questions"
he replies
"And I'm pretty sure she would rather you not. Get back to work"
Price warningly raises his eyebrows
"Yea, get back to work Ghost"
I smile, letting out a giggle
"Oh you think that's funny?"
Ghost says, tilting his head, squinting his eyes
"Oh i think it's very funny"
I bring my hands back to the trash grabber until i hear Soap coming up to me
"Valedictorian aye?"
Soap comes around the corner with a cocky smile
"Fucking hell Johnny"
Ghost rubs his eyes, noticing he was listening in
"Yes soap, i was"
I give him a smile
"No wonder price picked you. You're a smart one. And not just the attitude"
he laughs
"aye, what's the matter with you ghost? Sad you can't compete with the pretty girl?"
Soap says in a baby voice, making a pouty face
"Alright"
Ghost says dropping the trash bag on the ground
Soaps eyes widen and he drops his stuff
"I- It was a joke"
He says scared as he starts walking backwards, pointing his finger at him
