•I can't even tell you how common this is in 2023 and beyond. ADHD and ADD have become increasingly more common in today's youth and adult population. A lot of the time, it is common within families, but that's not always the case and it's certainly not a requirement that we'll look for in a diagnosis.
•ADD is Attention Deficit Disorder. It causes the person to have an extremely hard time paying attention to anything. Their brain would be focused on everything at once, making it hard to focus on a specific task. This disorder has since been removed and placed under the umbrella and diagnosis of ADHD. ADHD is similar, but this also includes a spike in energy and adrenaline. In both cases, hyper fixations (collecting coins, comic books, obsessing over certain shows, movies or books, etc.) are extremely common.
SYMPTOMS:
Symptoms of ADD and ADHD include inattention, distractibility, poor memory (can be targeted towards long or short-term depending on the case), certain hyper fixations, impulsivity, anxiety or depression(in some cases), etc.
TREATMENT:
Treatment of ADD and ADHD consists of accommodations provided in a school or work setting for more serious cases, therapy, prescribed medications, etc. If left untreated you can run the risk for more serious disorders to be developed in the long run.
