This is something that is crucial to understand in the mental health community. Psychopathy stems from a psych disorder known as Psychosis (chapter 33) and a personality disorder known as Psychopathy. Most people get confused as to why Psychopathy (chapter 34) is classified as a personality disorder when it has the key prefix, 'Psych'. It's a common error. Sociopathy stems from a personality disorder known as ASPD or Antisocial Personality Disorder (chapter 12). I am willing to bet you have probably heard the term "psycho," "psychopath," or "sociopath." But what's the difference between a psychopath and a sociopath?
The main difference is rooted in conscience. A sociopath has an established conscience but chooses to ignore it. A psychopath has no established conscience. There is no voice in the back of their head, warning them of danger, consequences, guilt, or shame, making them highly dangerous to themselves and to others usually.
