•Schizoaffective Disorder involves a combination of symptoms specific to Schizophrenia and other separate mood/personality disorders.
•Surprisingly, this disorder is a lot more common than you might think with more than 200,000 cases per year.
•This disorder usually has a hereditary component, so it doesn't require much testing to find the root of the issue.
•This is one of the most interesting things to study, but as fascinating as it is, it's still very sad and disturbing how much a disorder like this can affect your brain and how much the disorders have evolved and expanded over the years.
SYMPTOMS:
Symptoms of Schizoaffective Disorder include delusions, visual or auditory hallucinations, thought insertion, broadcast, and withdrawal, depression, manic phases, issues with communication, paranormal behavior, disorganized thoughts, speech, and just general mind, and a general inability to perform everyday tasks.
TREATMENT:
Treatment of Schizoaffective Disorder consists of medication, therapy (monitored, depending on how severe the case is), a nutrition plan, and usually a specialist to stick with you and help throughout the process. If left untreated, it can lead to development of other disorders, suicidal thoughts/actions, abuse of alcohol or other substances, family and other social aspect issues, etc.
