It all has to do with the part of the brain that the disorders affect. If the disorder specifically affects the behavioral/emotional part of the brain, it's usually considered a mental disorder while if the disorder specifically affects the nervous system and physical damage to the nervous system, it's usually considered a neurological disorder. Neurological disorders are more commonly hereditary. I'm still learning about neurological disorders because I haven't delved into them as completely as I have with mental disorders.
