•I first heard of this disorder from a friend who had been studying it and thought that he might have it. This disorder is similar to Dissociative Identity Disorder because it involves a heavy habit of dissociating from a young age.

•Depersonalization/Derealization Disorder involves a feeling of not being present in your own body or mind. It can be described as viewing your life as a movie or through another's eyes. This can also cause feelings that the world or people around you are not real or do not truly exist. This disorder could be warning signs for more serious disorders such as Schizophrenia, PTSD, or Borderline Personality.

•Many of these feelings or experiences happen very frequently in the person's life. The most important thing when handling this disorder is patience because it's a rough thing to deal with and most of the time, people just need someone to be there.

SYMPTOMS:

Symptoms of Depersonalization Disorder include feeling disconnected or detached from one's body and thoughts, early symptoms of the example disorders listed before, dissociation interfering with simple, daily tasks, emotional disruption or episodes, or suicidal thoughts.

TREATMENT:

Treatment of Depersonalization consists of visits to your Primary Physician and your Psychiatrist. Usually there are certain drugs or medicines you can use along with provided therapy. If left untreated it can lead to more serious disorders as detailed before.
