So, someone asked me this in person. Are my OCD intrusive thoughts related to my trauma sometimes?
The answer is, yes. I was diagnosed with PTSD a year- a year and a half before I was diagnosed with OCD. My therapist and doctor believe that the OCD developed further as a result of the PTSD, which does happen in roughly 25-30% of people who have PTSD (OCD can also not be there at all, the people who fully develop it as a result of PTSD are a part of the 25-30% of people). I had mild impulses and compulsions before my trauma, so it's thought that the development of PTSD just "pushed it along", so to speak. About 1 in 4 people with PTSD have been/will be diagnosed with OCD at some point in their lifetime.
