Chapter 18 - Bloodbath

Luca Mackenzie

"Are you sure about this?"

Luca nodded at Liliana. "Yes, ate. This is my specialty. What I'm not sure about is Freya being my backup."

"I don't want to be your backup either so shut up," Freya said, rolling her eyes.

"You both shut up." Bryce cut them off. "We need teamwork here, not argument."

Terrence and Liliana sighed in unison. They're not starting their plan yet and they are already bickering with each other. They picked Freya as Luca's back up and follow him secretly because she is the most capable one when it comes to this kind of situation.

If ever they find out that Luca's just pretending to be that man, Freya can save him by seducing them with her beauty and charm since that is one of the rebel's weaknesses.

"You're not even that pretty to me," Luca whispered.

Freya scoffed. "That's because you're blind."

"Gather up," Terrence picked up a stick on the ground and drew the areas of the forest connected to the village. "Now that we discovered their secret hideout, meet us here once you found out about their next plan. We'll stop them after. Don't overact and just act normal in front of them."

"Got it, captain!"

Luca shifted himself to look like the man they captured and entered the underground like a normal rebel. Freya silently followed him from behind with the help of the companion of Sid he summoned earlier – a companion with the power of invisibility.

He reached the body of the underground and saw the rebels doing their own businesses. Some are smoking, drinking alcohol, and sharpening their swords and daggers. Luca walked in the corner and pretended to clean the sword he got somewhere.

"Listen here!"

A guy with a black long hair tied in a ponytail shouted and made all the rebels look at him. Luca played along and acted tough.

So he is the leader.

"Dito tayo susunod na papasok para sunugin ang mga natitirang bahay." He showed them a map and pointed the area he's talking about. He picked the small area, ito ay kung saan mahihirapan ang iba na hanapin sila.

Too bad I'm incredible enough to know your plan and my team is smart enough to stop all of you.

"Huy," Muntik ng mahulog si Luca sa inuupuan nang may kumalabit na isa pang lalake sakaniya. "Nasaan ang kinuha mong tubig?"

Oh, shoot.

"A-ah..."

Think, Luca. Think!

"Hay naku, naligaw ka na naman! Ilang beses na ba 'yan? Hindi na dapat ikaw taga-kuha eh! Tara na nga, samahan na kita't baka mapagalitan pa tayo kay lobo tapos isumbong pa sa nakakataas." Inakbayan niya si Luca at tumungo palabas para kumuha ng tubig.

Nakakataas? The guy with a long hair talking earlier was just guiding them with the order of the Hales?

Luca was able to escape while the man who took him out is getting some water. They wouldn't be able to find out who's missing since the man they captured earlier was known as a person who's not good at direction kaya lagi itong naliligaw.

"Nice," Sid praised them when they came back and told everything. "All we need to do is block them."

"Good job, you two." Terrence also praised them. Freya smiled back at him while Luca went to Liliana's side like a baby coming back to his shell.

"Keep in mind that the rebels don't have any special abilities, they only have strength." He added as they went to the area where the rebels are going.

They hid and waited for them to show up. Ilang minuto lang ay nakarinig na sila ng ingay at tunog ng mga patalim.

"Anong bahay ang una nating susunugin?" Tanong ng isa sakanila.

"Ikaw ang una kong susunugin." Sulpot ni Sid sa gilid. Lumabas na rin ang ibang miyembro at tumayo sa tabi niya.

Terrence eyed all of them and he can say that they are around 50, including the leader of their unit Luca told them earlier. They call him Lobo or Wolf and he is the only one who has long hair and different or more decent outfit compared to the rest of the rebels, but with the same tattoo bone on the neck.

"I'm sure he is the only one with a special ability," Ruby whispered to him and he nodded, wondering if he is one of the Hales.

"Oh, look who's here." The guy uttered and stared at the woman standing next to Terrence. "...and Liliana,"

Liliana raised his eyebrow. "You know me?"

He laughed. "It's kinda sad that you don't know me but of course, I know you." He then whispered something after that so they didn't get to hear him.

"Cut the crap." Terrence put his sword out and ran to attack. "It's time to die!"

Sumunod ang iba't nagsimula ng umatake. Terrence focused on Lobo, while the other members killed the rebels one by one. Yael stayed and fought together on Liliana's side, Sid summoned his beasts, while Luca, Bryce, and Freya used their combat skills. Ruby's attacking with her poisons and defending herself, staying close to the team in case they need her as a healer.

The bloodbath continued and they already killed half of them. Nang magawa ni Terrence na patumbahin si Lobo ng ilang segundo ay napatingin siya sa gilid kung saan nakikipaglaban si Liliana. She is fighting with three rebels without knowing that the man lying on the ground behind her is still alive and waiting for an opportunity to attack her from her back.

Alarmed, he recalled what happened back during their elimination camp – the way she screamed in pain the moment he stabbed her with his sword, and when her body fell on the ground. It suddenly traumatized him.

No, not again.

"LILIANA!"

He was about to come to her when the guy he's fighting with, Lobo, immediately stood up and attacked him.

Terrence felt the blood running down from his left cheek but he still looked at Liliana's direction and saw Yael completely killed the man who was planning to attack her. When Terrence turned back to see his opponent, he's gone and couldn't find anywhere inside the battlefield.

Damn, he escaped. What a coward!

Star members killed all the rebels. Wala silang tinira ni isa, pwera nalang sa leader nila na tumakas. They still searched for him though and when they confirmed that he is no longer inside the village, Terrence raised the flag of the Air Village – a sign for Hermes and Silvermist to see from the mountain that the battle is over.

The villagers came out from hiding. They cheered for them and thanked them again and again.

"Hey," Terrence faced Liliana who called him. "You did a grea – you have a cut!"

He opened his mouth to say something but no words came out when she stood close to him and looked up to see his wound that is still bleeding. She raised her right hand and touched his left cheek. He stared at her face and felt her healing his wound.

Walang pakealam si Liliana na malagyan o hawakan ang dugo nito at nagpatuloy lamang na pagalingin siya. They stayed like that for minutes 'til his wound is completely cured.

Liliana took a step back and smiled. "You feeling better now?"

I'd rather take and accept this painful cut just to prevent you from getting hurt again.

"Yes, thank you."
