1st person's POV (Hu Tao)
Burn. Burn my pretty flowers, burn until you shrivel up. Oh, my pretty blossom, burn. I lifted the lighter again and brought it closer to my arm. I had covered myself in the red blossoms I coughed up. Ha, I'm such an idiot. I suck. I clicked the lighter. I am unlovable. The first petal started burning. I deserve pain. Blood dripped from the corner of my mouth while the second petal took over the flame. I felt the dying flowers burn into my arm. The satisfaction of pain is bittersweet.
A few petals fell to the ground as my arm started shaking, revealing dark scorch marks all over. I cringed at the sting I felt when I brushed past it with my sleeve. Why am I like this? I heard the lock rattle and quickly put out the burning petals and shook them to the ground. I hissed at the newly formed burn marks while I shoved the plum blossom under my bed and quickly but carefully rolled my sleeve back down. Nobody needs to know.
'Walnut?' Yanfei's voice echoed through the hallway. Walnut, she always calls me that. Cute. I fiddled with my sleeves, hoping it wouldn't be obvious. Ugh, it stinks. I quickly opened a window to get the smell of burning flesh out and I slipped into the hallway and shut my door.
'Ah, there you are!' Yanfei cheerfully skipped towards me.
'Yeah haha, what do you need?' I stammered, awkwardly standing in front of my door. Yanfei peeked over my shoulder.
'Can I borrow your eyeliner? Also, what are you hiding?' Oh shit.
'Ehm... I'm preparing a surprise.. for you?' I stammered. She smiled widely and took a step back. My lie seemed to work, for now at least. I patted my pockets, but I left my eyeliner on my desk.
'I'll be right back, no peeking,' I said as I slipped past my door and into my room. I yanked the eyeliner off my desk and handed it to Yanfei.
