"(Y/N), can you please help me with breakfast?"

"Yes, Mom! I'll be right there," you yelled. You stopped watering the flowers in the front of the house and went to the kitchen to see your mom preparing miso soup and fish for breakfast.

"Dear, can you start the fire so we can grill the fish?" your mom asked.

"Sure, let me get Jun to help me start the fire," you said as you left the kitchen, searching for your brother.

Rounding the corner of the house, you found your brother on the sideyard with your father, gathering wood for the coming winter. Your father looked up as he placed a log down on the pile.

Your father smiled, "(Y/N), do you need something?"

You pointed to Jun. "I came searching for him. Jun, can you grab a piece of wood so we can start a fire to cook breakfast?"

Jun grabbed the piece of wood and leaned it against his shoulder. "Lead that way, dear sister of mine."

You scowled at your brother and stuck out your tongue at his comment. You led him into the kitchen and, with his help, began the fire. Laying the fish on top of the fire, you began to cook the fish, flipping the fish every so often. You looked around to see your parents helping each other prepare breakfast. You looked to your right and saw your brother Jun fanning the flames so they would not die out. You smiled softly to yourself and thought moments like these are what you love.

"Jun and (Y/N), can you set the table? Breakfast is ready to be served", your father said.

"Sure," you and Jun said in unison.

Finally, after setting the table and serving the food, your family and you sat around the table to eat the delicious breakfast your mother had prepared.

"Thank you for the meal", everyone said.

When you took your first bite of the fish, your eyes lit up in happiness. Mother's food always comes out so well that you couldn't help but smile with each bite. Moments like these because even though your family wasn't well off, you always knew how to make each other happy.

You glanced at your brother; he would constantly taunt you growing up, but you knew if anyone ever dared to say anything bad about you, he would be there in a flash and protect you.
