You looked up from the piece of paper you had received from Ubuyashiki, it had the instructions to your new mentors house. You looked around and only saw one lonely house down the path, so this house must be it right? You sighed and put away the paper into your bag. You knew you agreed to become a Demon Slayer, but you had no idea what you were getting yourself into. 

As you followed the path to the house, you heard multiple footsteps coming at you at a fast pace that you had no time to react at all. 

"WATCH OUT!" a voice cried out.

A boy ran at you at ungodly speed, just as you were about to make contact with the dirt road an arm caught on to you and broke your fall. It all happened so quickly that you couldn't catch yourself in time that you had to thank whoever helped you. You turned your head to thank the person who caught you and was caught by surprise at the tengu mask starting right back at you.

You screamed loudly and forcefully got out of the tengu strangers hold on your arm. You turned to the other direction and saw two boys, one with orange hair and another with jet black hair, starting back at you trying to hold in their laughter. You instantly turned red out of embarrassment at yourself screaming.

You turned back to the man with the tengu mask and profusely apologized, "I'm so sorry! I wanted to thank you for your help, but was taken aback from your mask."

The tengu masked man raised his hand as to tell you that it was alright. The man then looked over to the two boys who quickly stood up straight knowing they were in trouble.

"Boys, go ahead an apologize you will both take blame for almost hurting your new fellow student", he said towards the two boys.

You looked shocked at the man and moved to your eyes over to the boys. "Students? Ah, the tengu masked man must be Urokodaki-san."

The pair of boys bowed at you and apologized for almost making you fall. You smiled at the pair of boys and accepted their apology. 

The orange boy then went up to you and help out his hand, "My name is Sabito and the moppy boy over there is Giyu, it's nice to officially meet you."

Giyu scowled at Sabito's comment while you laughed. You shook his hand back, "My name is (Y/N) Hara, i'm glad there are other students here too." 

As you were done introducing yourself to the two boys you went up to the tengu masked man. 

"Urokodaki-san it's nice to finally meet you, Ubuyashiki recommened you are my mentor. I am in your care", you said.

Urokodaki smiled and placed his arm on your shoulder, "You are officially one of my children, welcome to your new home."

"Home.. you never would have thought you would find another home again", you thought to yourself, but smiled from hearing his kind words.

Three years later

"....Wow...you couldn't even scratch it with how hard you swung", Giyu commented.

"Shut up Giyu! You can't even cut it either!" Sabito screamed towards him.

"Boys stop bickering at each other you both are hurting my ears" you said as you glared at both of the boys.

Time had flown by so fast with training these boys, from learning sword basics from Urokodaki, to running from traps set up by Urokodaki, learning about breathing styles, and now you three are currently learning how to cut a giant rock in half. 

You were now 14 years old and your two boys were now 15. You had grown to love them like family, Sabito had such a  carefree attitude, but would constantly tease you to try to get you mad. As for Giyu, he would always help you when you needed it and you knew you could depend on him for anything. 

You were all on the last step of your training before you all attended the Final Selection to officially become demon slayer. Even though all three of you learned the water breathing style from Urokodaki, you were the only one who's breathing style changed. You body couldn't keep up with the fluidity of the water breathing style, that slowly over time you developed Ice breathing style. Urokodaki had told you that changing breathing styles can happen and to not worry about it. So now here were you all three training taking turns to see who would be the first to cut the giant rock. 

Sabito was slowly started to lose patience and finally gave up, he went over to Giyu and tagged him in for his chance at the rock. Giyu took his position and lifted his sword, taking a deep breathe he readied his stance. 

HA!

Your eyes were glued towards Giyu and the rock, you let go the air you didn't know you were holding in because to anticipation. All you could see was the small smirk forming in the corners of Giyu's mouth, you smiled and knew he accomplished what Sabito couldn't.

You took notice of the small chip that Giyu was able to slash from the giant rock and clapped for him. "Congrats Giyu! You are definitely better than Sabito!"

Sabito glared in your direction, "Don't get ahead of yourself Ice Princess, you haven't beaten me yet."

You stuck out your tongue at Sabito for the "nickname" he trademarked for you, "Just you wait, you'll be grateful when I come and save your butt one day", you responded. 

Giyu put away his sword and motioned you over for your turn. You jumped off the tree branch you were currently occupying and brought out your training sword. You took your stance in front of the rock. To say you weren't nervous was an understatement, you were one step closer to becoming a Demon Slayer and this hurdle was waiting to be accomplished. You took a deep breathe and focused on the rock ahead of you. 

"Focus (Y/N), remember who you are doing this for. Jun, Mother, Father, help move me forward!" you screamed in your head.

You took one step forward and swung your sword forwards. The swing on your sword landed directly on the rocks weak point and instantly the giant rock crumbled into little pieces.

Sabito and Giyu stood there dumbfounded that such strength came out from you. You kept your eyes closed due to the nervousness of seeing what you did. 

"Guys....i'm too afraid to look", you said.

"(Y/N) don't be ridicious! You have to see what you did!", Sabito ran over to you and pushed you forward to the mess you made. You opened your eyes and saw the rock was in shambles, you couldn't believe that you were able to do it. 

"I....I did that?!?!", you screamed.

Giyu clapped for your accomplishment," Congrats (Y/N), you definitely won our little competition."

"Yes! Congrats Ice Princess!", Sabito cheered for you.

You put away your sword and jumped towards the two boys and gave them a giant hug. You brought them closer and hugged them even tighter causing them to both blush from embarrassment.

You suddenly heard clapping from behind the tree and saw Urokodaki comes from them. He came over to your three and ruffled your hair.

"Congratulations my child you are ready for the next step, the Final Selection." he said.

You eyes sparkled at the mention of the Final Selection, you were almost there. Your goal of becoming a Demon Slayer was only but a step away.
