Your fingers tightened around the hilt of your blade as you stared right at Douma.
"I'm not angry at all," you smiled at him menacingly. "I'm just excited to get the chance to beat the shit out of you."
Douma raised his fan to hide the smile on his face. "I'd like to see you try," he said.
Before you could take your stance, Douma raised his fan and yelled out Frozen Lotus. Shards of razor-sharp ice shot out of his fan at a fast speed. You didn't have enough time to jump away; you used your blade to block out most of the ice, but you still suffered a bit of scratches.
You winced from the scratches. This demon was toying with you, and you knew it. He was waiting to see what you would do next with that sinister grin on his lips.
You charged forward, your blade slicing through the air with deadly precision. Douma parried effortlessly; his movements were fluid and mocking. He danced around your stikes, toying with you, the cruel smile never leaving his face.
"Looks like someone is almost out of energy," Douma teased.
You looked up and stared straight at his rainbow eyes, smiling. "I may be, but I know someone with energy to spare."
Douma, who was confused by your statement, but before he could react, was stabbed right through the stomach.
First Form: Dust Whirlwind Cutter
Douma had focused all his attention on you, and he had forgotten that Sanemi was there. You took this chance to inflict damage, too, and took your blade and swiftly cut Douma's hand cleanly off.
Douma quickly put some space between you, his eyes never leaving yours. He seemed to be enjoying the game. He raised his arm and reattached his hand, and with one swift motion, ice particles were floating in the air.
You panicked and looked over at Sanemi, "DON'T BREATH!"
Sanemi, confused at first, didn't question you and covered his mouth with his sleeve. You jumped towards Sanemi and motioned to put more space between yourselves and Douma.
Douma, noticing what you two were up to, raised his fan and made the particles reach even further. His smile only got bigger as he saw you two panic.
Sanemi, no longer able to hold his breath, accidentally inhaled some of the particles from Douma and started to cough, feeling the ice getting to his lungs and causing him to kneel on the floor. You had to do something quickly, or Sanemi would end up like Kanae.
Sadly, you knew you were outmatched, but you knew the sun would be out shortly. You had to buy some time for everyone.
4th Form: Frost Breathe
A frost-like mist appeared between you and Douma, causing you to disappear from view. You quickly helped Sanemi to his feet; you quickly took Sanemi behind a building out of Douma's view.
"Sanemi, you need to stay here; if you move, the particles will develop faster around your lungs, got it?"
Sanemi, not happy with the situation, struggled to stand up on his feet, "Let me at that bastard; I won't let him get away with what he did to Kanae."
You shook your head, "Let me handle this; I can buy us some time."
Sanemi bit the corner of his lips in anger and finally agreed, "Fine....just don't get hurt...please..."
You smiled at his words, "Don't worry, I'll at least do some damage." You looked at Sanemi one last time and quickly left.
Douma, who stood in the clearing, looked as if he was patiently waiting for your return. "Ara, little Snowflake finally decided to show up again. Oh? No boyfriend to help you now?
You frowned and moved your sword forward, "Shut the hell up; I'll end you here and now."
Douma smiled evilly, "Now that's the attitude I've wanted to see from you! I'd almost say you make my heart want to skip a beat!"
Douma moved his fan in a forward slash Frozen lotus
Razor-sharp ice came towards you in a fast motion, but you were able to counter with your own move.
Third form: Glacier wall
A giant ice wall blocked Douma's move; you quickly went to your next move.
Fourth form: Frost breathe
You disappeared in front of Douma to which he laughed, "Pathetic, you think I would fall for such a simple move."
Douma moved his fans in a slashing motion when he sensed you right behind him and sliced right through you.
Confusion ran across his face when he noticed your figure disappear in a mist-like motion.
"What?"
The blade of your katana landed on Douma's neck, "Did I mention that I can create illusions with this form? Guess I forgot to mention," you laughed.
Before you got a chance to push your blade into Douma's neck, he sliced right across your chest.
"Nice try, little Snowflake, but you are still too slow, even with those little tricks of yours."
You smiled, "Am I though? You've been so distracted with me that you didn't notice, did you?"
Confusion was all over Douma's face, "What are you-!" Douma instantly felt a burning sensation coming over him.
The sun was coming out.
The light had begun to creep over the horizon, which caused Douma's movements to become more erratic. You saw your chance and lunged forward, pouring all your strength into a final, desperate strike.
Your blade sliced right through Douma's eyes with precision. Douma held his eyes with shock and pain, and he staggered back, clutching his wound.
"This isn't over, little snowflake. You'll be mine soon enough," he said as he retreated into the village as the first rays of sunlight broke through the trees.
Douma was gone, but somehow, the victory felt hollow.
You fell down to one knee and clutched your chest; it hurt.
Before you could register the pain more, you heard Sanemi's voice scream out.
"Kanae! Please!"
You mustered all your strength and, with the help of your katana, got up and followed Sanemi's voice.
As you reached the destination of Sanemi's voice, you saw Kanae's motionless figure on the ground. Sanemi, who was already at her side, his face twisted with anguish.
"Kanae," he whispered, cradling her gently.
Kanae's eyes fluttered open, her gaze finding Sanemi's. She managed a weak smile. "I...I love you," she breathed, her voice barely audible.
Sanemi's tears fell freely as he held her close. "I love you too," he choked out, his heart breaking as he felt her life slip away.
You stood behind Sanemi with tears running down your cheeks and knelt beside them.
You looked at Kanae with a mournful look. You felt her hands slowly hold yours, a smile gracing her lips. Her eyes looked right into you, almost telling you to take care of Sanemi for her. You choked on your tears and nodded, understanding her message.
Kanae smiled, now feeling at peace, closed her eyes, and slowly passed away in the arms of people she cherished.
You both watched as Kanae's light faded, sadness settling over you. The sun rose fully, bathing you in a warm glow. Sanemi mourned the loss of his beloved Kanae, and you shared in his grief of losing an older sister.
