Chapter 1: Hero Once More

North Bellwood Bridge: Bellwood

Driving across the long North Bellwood Bridge, leaving the city of Bellwood, a black sports car that had a green “X” as well as hourglass symbols on all of its hubcaps can be seen. Inside of the car is its owner, Ben Tennyson, 20 years old and formally known as the Hero of Earth and the Savior of the Universe. After witnessing the death of his family and friends at the hands of his greatest enemy, Vilgax the Conqueror, Ben snapped and, in vengeful rage, ended the life of Vilgax in the most brutal of ways possible. Vilgax's death was secretly broadcasted to every being in the universe as well as Earth. This sent a message to everyone, including all of the criminals out there in the universe that Ben wasn't going to let them get away with their crimes anymore, or at least that was what people thought.

It was far from the truth, though after what he did to Vilgax, Ben gave up wanting to be a hero. He felt as though it was his fault that those he cared about had died and that if he had never received the omnitrix, their deaths could have been avoided. It was these thoughts and others as well as the nightmares that made Ben depressed. His depression didn't get any better when the people he once saved started seeing him as some kind of monster. They viewed him as worse as the villains he fought and that at any given moment, he could snap again and kill them all. This fear campaign was led by Ben's biggest hater, Will Harangue, who somehow returned to his normal human form.

Rook and the other Plumbers believed that Harangue was the one responsible for showing the people of Earth the video of Ben killing Vilgax and blowing it out of proportion. Still, besides the Plumbers and what few friends he had that were still alive, the people of Earth viewed Ben as a threat that needed to disappear. After a few attempts at trying to take his own life as well as destroying the omnitrix, Ben came up with the perfect plan to disappear. Of course, he had a talk with Azmuth, who talked Ben out of destroying the omnitrix and taking his own life. That plan was to find a place outside of Bellwood where he could start over. Ben would wear an I.D mask and use the omntrix once more for the last time to help him create a new identity.

First Ben was going to have to find a place where he could destroy his past and start over. That is why Ben is leaving Bellwood and driving far away from there. Ben had a good idea of where he could go to destroy his past as well as a place where he could start over. All Ben had to do was to get across the bridge and get there without any problems.

"This traffic is getting annoying" Ben said to himself as he continued to drive across the bridge

For whatever reason, the bridge was full of people coming and going, driving at extremely slow speeds. Poor Ben had been stuck on the bridge for hours now and had made little progress in getting off of it. By the time that Ben had actually made it across, the sun had begun to go down.

"This is just great, I've basically wasted a whole day" Ben said to himself, annoyed as he looked out his window up at the setting sun

Focusing back on the road, Ben looked up ahead of him and saw a large oil truck coming down the road at fast speeds. He watched as the driver of the truck struggled to slow down and stop before the truck crashed into cars that were in its way. The truck then swirved into the lane that Ben was in, hitting more cars before rolling over and stopping. People were yelling and screaming as some ran towards the scene of the accident while others ran away. Ben watched as oil began to leak from the tanker and began to spill out around the flipped truck and crashed cars.

"This isn't my problem, this isn't my problem" Ben whispered to himself as he looked down at his steering wheel

Ben could hear the screams of people as he looked up and saw that there were people trapped in their cars, unable to get out
