Chapter 9: The Kingpin

Last time, Ben found himself exploring the Hell's Kitchen burrow of New York City. He went there to investigate a recent surge of fires that had appeared all over Hell's Kitchen within days of each other, back to back. Something about the fires didn't sit well with Ben, which was why he decided to investigate them. Apparently, Ben wasn't the only one who didn't think that the fires were natural. The group known as the Defenders, which consisted of Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, Luke Cage, Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones. Daredevil and the Defenders believed that the man known as Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, was responsible for the fires happening across Hell's Kitchen. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough evidence to link Fisk to the fires, and neither did they know why he was starting the fires.

What they did know was that men that Wilson Fisk had working for him were going around shaking up landlords, tenants, and business owners for money. Daredevil, who was a lawyer, wouldn't have enough evidence to lock Fisk up and keep him in prison. Seeing that as a problem, Ben offered to help the Defenders break into Fisk's tower and gather all of the evidence they needed. Before Ben and the Defenders could enact their plan, a group of criminals known as the Enforcers who were being led by the man known as Shocker broke into the Defenders hideout and tried to take them by surprise. Little did they know that they would be facing off against Ben, who was an Avenger.

Outside Fisk Tower: Hell's Kitchen, New York City

It was late at night, the moon was high in the sky as Ben and the Defenders hid outside in front of Fisk Tower, a tall building that looked down on all of Hell's Kitchen. All five of them were waiting for the right opportunity to break into the tower and get what they needed to put Fisk away for a long time. The reason Ben and the Defenders showed up here was because they had gotten answers as to why and how Fisk was connected to the buildings burning down in Hell's Kitchen. This was thanks to the information that Ben had collected from Shocker and the Enforcers after they had tried to catch Ben and the Defenders by surprise. Little did they know, Ben was there, and he wasn't known to go down without a fight.

"I still can't believe those idiots gave us everything we needed" Luke Cage said in disbelief

"I've never seen interrogation tactics like that before" Iron Fist said, remembering how Ben got the information we needed

"Don't make it sound like I committed a war crime to get what we needed" Ben said

"Ben's right, you guys are making it sound like he outright tortured them" Daredevil said to Iron Fist and Luke Cage

"But come on, you really don't have a form that can literally scare people to death, do you?" Jessica asked Ben

"I can neither confirm nor deny that" Ben answers, as he thinks about his transformation Toepick
