Sorry it took longer than expected

Naruto POV~

Shino and I have been hanging out for a while. I look outside the cafe window. Wow! It's already late in the day. I grab my phone from the table and check the time. It's 19:38 (7:38 pm).

"Wow, I didn't realize it was so late," I stated out loud.

"Really? I didn't realize either," Shino responded. "I should head home."

"Same here," I say.

We both stand up from the table. I walk up to the cashier at the counter pulling out my wallet. I then feel a hand on my shoulder.

"I'll pay for it Naruto," Shino says to me.

"It's fine, I don't mind paying Shino," I reply.

"No I'll pay," he insists.

"Too bad, I'm already paying," I say as I pull out the money.

Beep

I was too late. Shino already swiped his card into the machine.

"Too bad for you, I already paid." Shino stated proudly.

I pout at him and he just smiles.

"See ya at school tomorrow, Naruto," he says to me as he walks out the door.

I begin to smile as I walk out of the cafe and back home. I can't wait for school tomorrow!

I wake up the next day and get ready for school. Shino and I made plans to walk to school together every day. I head downstairs where Mom and Kurama are already eating. I sit at the table and grab some food for myself. As I eat my food my mom asks me why I was so happy. I told her about Shino and us meeting up this morning.

"I'm glad you're doing great at this school Naruto," she said to me.

"Mhm! Much better than my old school!" I say.

"Now you don't have to deal with those shitty people bullying you and stuff," Kurama said. He then realized what he was saying and shut his mouth.

I remember how my old school was. It was a horrible experience. I look down at my food, suddenly losing my appetite.

"You should head to school Naru, okay?" My mother suggests.

I nod my head as I head out the door. I grab my backpack and make sure I have my phone. I then head outside shutting the door behind me.

"Hey Naruto." I hear a voice behind me speak. I turn around and see Shino. 

"Hey," I say a bit coldly.

We start heading to school. Normally Shino and I are quiet but it's a awkward silence this time. I guess I was a bit too cold so I speak up.

"Sorry if I seemed cold when greeting. I was just reminded of something from the past." I explain to Shino.

"It's alright, I figured something was wrong, so I let you have your space." He replied.

"Thanks Shino, that means a lot to me." I happily say.

We're now entering the school campus. We see a few friends of ours near the front door so we walk over to them and greet them.

After a bit we decided to head inside and grab some breakfast. Since I lost my appetite from earlier, I didn't grab any food. We all sit down at a table and talk while others ate.

Sadly, I can't help but think about what happened in my old school.

Flashback

"MONSTER FREAK!" Someone yelled as he shoved me into a locker.

"KNOW YOUR PLACE!" He shouted once again.

"Naruto??" I hear someone say.

I feel someone shaking me. I snap back to reality and look around. All my friends are looking at me. Sasuke was the one shaking me.

"You okay Naru?" Shika asks me.

"Hm? Oh yeah I'm alright, why??" I reply to him.

"You spaced out and we couldn't get your attention." Choji answered. 

"Sorry, I guess I got sidetracked in my mind. I didn't mean to worry anyone," I nervously reply and scratch my head.

"Does it have to do with your past again?" Shino asked me.

Now all our eyes are on him.

"What do you mean Shino?" Sasuke replies.

Shino just shrugs and mentions what happened earlier outside my house.

The guys look at me and question what happened. I don't want to tell them yet. I'm not ready yet. I look down and frown.

We all hear footsteps come towards us so we look who was coming. It's Hinata.

"Hey Naruto," she said in a small voice.

"Hey Hinata, what's up?" I ask her.

"I wanted to know if you could help me with my homework later. The teacher said you're really good at English and science." She said to me.

"Yeah sure, I have to tutor Kiba and Ino Yamanaka later on anyways. You can join if you want." I explain.

"Okay! Where will we be going?" She says.

"We're going to the library during 6th hour every Monday and Wednesday," I tell her.

"Alright, I'll be there. I have to ask my teacher." She says as she walks away, "Thanks Naruto!"

"Mhm!" I happily reply.

Now I have 3 people to help. How fun. 

~ time skip to tutoring~ 

"Hey guysssss!" Ino said happily towards us three.  

She sits down and we begin the tutoring. I help with math first to see where they're all at, and where they need help.

The bell rings for the last class and we all part ways.
