Are you looking down on us?

I should be doing homework but I am really ticked off right now. So a lot of my irl friends know that my mom runs a Cleaners and is pretty cool but I think that a lot people look down on her because her English isn't on par with someone who was born in the US and just because she has this job, I think a lot of people expect superhuman cleaner-ing abilities or something.

A few weeks ago, a woman came in to see if her son's suit could be altered for prom but my mom said no because she had enough work to do and prom was the very next day. The woman cussed out my mom and left. Like, what is your problem? It's not my mother's fault that you didn't bring in your garments in time.

Today, I'm helping out my mom by being at the cleaners while she takes my brother to his school "opera," and I feel bad for people that I had to turn away today because I don't know how to do alterations and for people that had to wait more because I don't really know how to use the computer. A man came in wanting his clothes so I looked but I couldn't find them, it turns out that they haven't come in yet so I call my mom cause this guy is clearly pissed because he has a wedding that he needs to get to but my mom said that she can't do anything. He told us that he wouldn't do business with us anymore and left, very angrily and I knew that a lot of that anger was directed at me. I have been working for an hour. I cannot go and bring your clothes because we are a pickup/drop store and not an actual cleaners. Also, if it's for a wedding, you should not drop your clothes off, expecting to get it the day before, giving us two days ,especially if you drop after 5 o' clock (when most of our delivered items are ready to be picked up). It's such an important event, it feels like you kinda didn't care. Now, I nothing about this dude but he wasn't just angry about this, he was rude. I feel for you because you don't have your clothes, but dude, the day before? My mom even opens early or stays open late for people, you were cutting it close and it didn't happen. We're not magic.

A few years back, we kept getting calls but I didn't pick them up because I was 11 or something and my mom was at the bank. It kept ringing so I decided to pick it up and the guy on the line threatened to kill us. It freaked me out then and it still does because I felt like I was in hiding from a psychopath. I understand that you're frustrated, but we're a cleaners. Really?

There have been plenty of instances where people demand ridiculous things about my wonderful wonderful mother who raises my younger brother and I, is graduating from school (she did it in three years!), is continuing her studies and still works six days a week. She's amazing and when people look down on her because she can't hem pants for someone in 30 minutes, I want to yell that she's so wonderful and great but, the customer's always right. Unfortunately.

To wrap up my point, my mother's amazing and if you ever diss her because she can't do something, why did you even come to us? Because clearly you can't do it yourself and if my mom can't, go somewhere else, don't cuss us out.

Anyway, have a lovely day everyone!
