The Disease of Stupidity

Well, we all know that while the internet is a place where people from all over the world can connect and create new things but with that wonderful freedom, there is a price. We have to deal with all of the people that decide that the internet is their stomping ground for idiotic comments and death threats.

I can honestly say that I've never given any specific group or person on the internet “hate” (till now I suppose), exempting Justin Bieber but he was in all kinds of trouble before. Do I believe that he's really turned a new leaf? We'll see, I'm still skeptical. Oh yeah, and republicans. Get your act together. Geez...

Most of us know one of the most popular sites on the internet also attract a high concentration of people who seemingly don't care about anything. YouTube.

I swear, nothing aggravates me more on the internet than people who tell others to hurt themselves. Do you think nothing of the consequences? I’ve had multiple screw-ups in commenting on YouTube, I said I knew something when I actually had false information. As replies, I got people saying things along the lines of, “OMFG you’re so wrong! That’s not even close!” or “You could have just looked it up before commenting. Stupid.”

Yes, I am at fault for getting my information wrong, I’m sorry for not being an encyclopedia. Would it pain you to be a little more considerate in correcting me? Would it physically or mentally strain you to be nice?

When people are commenting on popular YouTuber’s videos, about 30% it’s to get exposure, attention and then people are either considerate of these people and actually give the channel a shot, or they tell them to go hurt themselves and die.

I understand that soliciting for views and subscribers on another person’s channel is rude but who gave you the right to tell people hurt themselves or die? Don’t give me all that “everyone is entitled to their own opinion” crap. That’s not an opinion, that’s technically a threat and if you’ve ever done this, you need to reevaluate what you’re doing.

Another thing that irks me to no end is insulting people with words like gay or slut. First off, stop making the word gay into something negative! As mentioned in one of my previous entries, “No.” I was called gay on YouTube. It was the malice left in that word that hurt me, and I was slightly woozy from receiving a blow to the neck. Gay is the umbrella term for homosexuality, which is perfectly acceptable, but that’s a rant for later. You should not use that word to hurt anyone. If you’re going to offend someone, at least be classy about it and not drag an entire population whom that word effects. I’m not condoning creative bullying.

Slut, where do I even start with this word? Maybe I should start by saying clothing does not equal consent. If I walk outside wearing a tube top and booty shorts, by no means am I saying that I want sex. I’ve seen babies in cute little bikinis but who sexualizes a baby? Nearly no one. When someone comments, usually someone with a feminine username or picture that the YouTuber, usually a guy, is hot or attractive, the people I like to call the “slutbashers” aka misogynists, come to make sure that she will not leave unscathed.

You usually will not know someone who comments on the internet personally and even then, you should not be calling anyone this word. If an individual choses to have sex with multiple partners, that’s fine. Sexual liberation, it’s a thing.

A lot of people lose job opportunities due to what they’ve done on the internet. If you’re too afraid to attack people in public, don’t do it on the internet. If you can attack people in real life, you need a hug.

This ended up being a series of mini rants but the point is, don’t cyberbully people. It’ll be there forever and cause more damage than you think.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!
