Conversation with a Ghost

After having visited Elliott, who was about to be released from the hospital just fine, Y/n went back to his house. The Umbrellas were gone. And in the silence, a person appeared.

"You don't have long." Remarked Ghost, "I estimate that you have probably about ten minutes before you should get to the barn."

Y/n nodded, "Yeah. I'm... not completely sure on what I'm going to do."

"By the way, are you sure you're not Incompatible again?" Ghost looked hard at them.

Y/n shrugged, "I don't know. Apparently it's uncommon for realities to start kind of... bleeding through if reality ever spits you back out after Incompatibility, but not unheard of. Like how I went back for a couple years."

"That book really was useful." Ghost hummed.

Y/n laughed, "Yeah. Guess it was."

"Anyway," They cleared their throat, "not to be the voice of reason, but we're running out of time. What are your plans for this?"

"I want to know what you think." Y/n paused for a moment before speaking, "I'm going to let them deal with the whole situation as if I wasn't there. Except- I'll knock the gun from the Handler's hand first so she never gets the chance to shoot them."

Ghost nodded, "Basically what Five does originally, right?"

Y/n sighed, "Yeah. That's the plan, I think. Oh, and then make sure that all of Harlan's powers are gone. We can't have the grandfather paradox happening."

"Tricky. Especially since there's no way of checking." Ghost hummed.

"Could I use my powers?" Y/n said suddenly, after a few moments in silence, "To, like, take away any trace of the powers? It might... make him forget Vanya, but it's better than the alternative."

The pair stood in silence for a moment, all considering the question deeply.

"You don't want to risk anything with your powers." Ghost finally answered, "Dangerous. What if he gets Reality Incompatibility? Do you want that to happen?"

"No." Y/n answered, "But Reality Incompatibility is when you take too much from reality, and it takes back. This would just be using reality to change it. If anything, I'd be giving something to reality."

"You could use it to assist in the removal of his powers." They suggested, eyes narrowed in thought, "Like, if you can combine the twisting of reality with when Vanya takes their powers back. Use your powers together. I'm sure that would work."

Y/n nodded thoughtfully, "That sounds like the best solution. God, I hope this works."

Ghost checked their watch, "Well, you don't have long. Best be a little too early than a little too late."

"Yeah." Y/n took a deep breath, anxiety and nerves swirling in their body, "It's time."

"See you around." They grinned at them, giving a wink and vanishing.

Y/n was left alone. They pressed their eyelids together and exhaled, trying to calm their jitters.

They opened up a rift and stepped through it.
