"Sib?"
Looking up at my office door, I spotted Alexis poking her head in.
After that whole debacle at her Aunt's house, I had been keeping my distance. It's not that she had done anything wrong, everything just left a bad taste in my mouth. I told her I didn't want to go somewhere I probably wasn't wanted but, she swore up and down that her aunt would be fine with me being there.
And she was fine with it, it just wasn't her I should've been concerned about.
It was her disrespectful ass brother.
I admit, maybe I was looking at him at first. He just looked so angry, standing around family and friends.
I got lost in my thoughts while I was looking at him and didn't realize it had turned into a stare until he was screaming in my face.
I was too busy trying to make up reasons in my mind why he looked so angry. Not that it's any of my business, but at the time...that's what I was thinking.
He didn't have to snap on me the way he did. In my opinion it was totally uncalled for. The nigga needed therapy.
"Yea?"
"You still mad at me?" Alexis asked before fully stepping into my office and shutting the door behind her.
"I'm not mad at you. Just needed some space after that mess." I said sweetly.
"I understand." Alexis replied as she sat down with a stressed look across her face.
"You straight?"
"No, I'm really not. But that just seems to be the Sutherland way.."
"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked with a raised eye brow. So cryptic this girl...
"Syre and I—" she started before shaking her head. "Nevermind actually. This is why he doesn't mess with me now, always talking about family business."
"I mean, I'm one of your best friends, I don't see how you can't talk to me but I get it."
"You don't even know. It's deeper than a family history run down. Just know that my brother hates me."
"He doesn't hate you."
She gave me a look like "bitch yes he does", and I pressed my lips in a line.
"Whatever, I don't need him. I'm just glad you and I are okay.....I really wanted you to come for Christmas dinner tomorrow..."
I gave her a scared look. "I don't think so."
"Just don't look at him and it will be cool."
"You're tryna get me arrested. If he can't hold his tongue, I won't be responsible for kicking his ass."
