TW: DISCUSSIONS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT
Pushing the door open to the family waiting area, Syre let his eyes cross over everyone's faces as they looked up at him.
"Is she awake yet?" Sybil was the first to get up and ask. Walking over to Syre and into his arms.
"Nah, not yet."
He let the door close behind him, not a moment passing before Shamira sat up in her seat.
"Where have you been all this time? We were worried." She said softly, her eyes puffy from crying. She had worried something terrible happened during procedures...
He scoffed. "The doctor said she should wake up soon, her body is responding good to the transfusion." Syre rubbed his head and sighed. "I'm fuckin lightheaded...." he grumbled.
"They didn't give you any juice? Cookies?" Sybil questioned.
"Don't nobody want no dumbass cookies." He fussed and Sybil pinched his arm. "The fuck!"
"They took one whole pint of blood Syre, you need juice!" She sassed him he bugged his eyes.
"One day, ima stuff that mouth—" he grit under his breath, jokingly of course.
Des sat up. "Aye, we glad Alexis is good. But we're a little confused." He said in an even tone, not wanting to cause any arguments to ensue. "You donated blood to Alexis?"
Syre grabbed Sybil's hand and she returned by squeezing his in hers.
"Yea, I did."
"Y'all have the same blood type?" Shamira questioned.
"Yea."
"I thought the doctor said it was rare."
"It is."
Shamira and Desmond both stared up at Syre, waiting for him to continue. Sybil rubbed his arm and assured him.
"It's okay...."
"I gotta go into detail or what? Cuz I'm really....not trying to go back down that road." He pleaded with her.
"You say what you're comfortable saying..."
"Well can someone say something?" Shamira interrupted. "Why are you being so secretive? Is that why you went off to talk to the doctor on your own? Just because you have the same blood type?"
"Nah....that ain't why. Me and Lexi....we..." Syre looked down at the floor and shook his head. Taking a breath, he lifted his head again and closed his eyes. "Me and Lexi are related. That's why we have the same blood type."
