"When you finna give me a baby?"
I cut my eyes at Marcus so fast, boy....I almost popped him in the forehead.
"You smoke crack when I'm not home?"
His jaw fell open before a deep laugh escaped him.
"Damn, what the fuck?"
"I'm just asking, you acting strange babe."
"I'm strange because I wanna start a family with you?"
I turned to him and smiled, fixing my position on the couch so I could get close to him. "No, you're strange because I don't see a ring on my finger."
"Double S' gang had Silas and they weren't married."
"We are not The Jailbird and the Target Boss Level, now are we?"
He laughed again, tossing his head back. "Yo, I'm telling her you basically called her ghetto."
"She knows who she is!" I giggled. "Why do you wanna have a baby with me anyway?" I shrugged.
His laughing stopped almost immediately and he looked at me with a stale face. "You really asking me that?"
"Yes?" I said softly.
"Chivaugn....what? What do you mean why?"
"Marcus, we've never talked about kids. Or marriage. And I'm not in a rush—"
"It's not about rushing." He paused with a small smile. "I wasn't being serious about the baby thing, but you not thinking that I want that with you is insane. You're the woman of my dreams, I'm not tryna marry, have no babies and grow old with nobody except you. You didn't know that?"
I couldn't fight the pout on my face and I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know...you like me like that?"
"Man...Chi if you don't stop playin....I love you. Whatchu talkin bout?"
"Alright, but men just be saying that..."
"I'm not men. I'm Marcus and I ain't just saying shit. I love you. I'm in love with you. Would I have asked you to move in with me if I just liked yo ass? You know you on the spectrum."
I slapped his arm playfully and he laughed again.
"Dickhead!"
"My lil neurodivergent baby." He sat up and began to climb over me and I gave a fake struggle.
"Get off me you NERD!"
"A college degree make me a nerd?"
"Yes! You....smart person."
