Chapter 9 - Reigning Pain in New Orleans

Klaus voiceover - My siblings and I are the first vampires in history known as the Originals and because of that 300 years ago we helped build New Orleans but because of our father we had to leave and it's because of our absence a new king arose but now I've returned and taken his kindom as my own, just like it was supposed to be, I had hoped that once we have New Orleans back under our control that it will bring our family together but I was wrong.

French Quarter, The Abattoir Yard

In the middle of the yard is a dinner table with Marcel's closest people, the ones that made it out alive, are gathered around it, Klaus was at the head of the table standing behind Elena who is sitting in the chair in front of him when he tapped his cup that was in his hand, with a fork and said "I know that none of you wanted me to gain control of New Orleans but we will work together for the city we all love, so let's begin with a toast to our shared gift: immortality" everyone had a sip of their drinks, minus Elena of course, Klaus cleared his throat and said "After a thousand years one might expect life to be less keenly felt, mainly for it beauties and for it's sorrows do diminish with time, I learnt that the hard way and sometimes feeling that will make one feel like they are drowning but for us, as vampires, we feel more deeply than humans could possibly imagine, yeah we share some of what we learn to those that know about us but we keep guard to protect those we love" he gestured to the group of wiaters and waitresses to have them join them at the table, for each of the guests present, Klaus looked round at everyone and said "Humans don't know how much it takes for us to learn control but it's because of that we are at the top of the food chain, insatiable need, exquisite pain," he saw the servants slit their wrists with knives that they took out of their pockets, watched as the blood flow into the cups in front of the vampires and he continued what he was saying "We have seen a lot over the years but we also seen what happens to different leaders throughout history it's because of that, our victories and our defeats are remembered" Klaus looks at Marcel and went into his head about one victory he is still protective of, while Marcel quietly thought of what the plan was the night before.

Flashback - Marcel's memory.

Rebekah was pacing round the room while Marcel is sitting just watching Rebekah mutter under her breath, he sighed and said "Can you stop pacing please Rebekah, it's making my head spin" Rebekah quickly snapped her head round to look at Marcel with a angry expression and said "I will not stop pacing, I had to learnt that not only did you create an army to take out my brother which I am still surprised about but you lied to me about that" Marcel ran his hand through his hair and said "I know I should've told you but how can I? Yeah you want your brother to leave you alone so you can have the life you wanted but how can you do that when your brother is stronger than everyone combined?" Rebekah shook her head and said "You can't afford to lick your wounds because of you wounded pride, with Klaus in control of your empire you need to give him what he craves most: loyalty or at least an illusion of it because he just doesn't want to leave again, he still feel like he betrayed you but to Nik, he will need some more convincing" Marcel looked at Rebekah and said "How can I do that Rebekah? Have you forgotten that I ambushed him with an army of vampires that I created not many hours ago, I tried to bury him alive by doing that, so he's not gonna trust me after that" Rebekah walked closer to Marcel and said "He will Marcel, he still thinks of you as that little boy he saved, plus he wants your allegiance and I'm speaking from experience that if you play the part then all is forgiven but if he thinks that you are against him then he will strike back" she takes his hand in hers and said "I just want you to make me a promise" Marcel looked at her confused and said "What promise?" Rebekah took a deep breath, looked into his eyes and said "You will do whatever it takes to stay alive because I can't lose you again" Marcel shook his head and said "You won't, someone will have to drag me away from you if that happens" Marcel kissed Rebekah to make her feel better.
