New Orleans - The Compound.

Klaus's Voiceover: People have always said that the passage of time will heal all wounds and will scar over but what they never tell us is that the greater loss, the deeper the cut that is there and the ever more difficult the process to become whole again, yeah the pain may fade and become manageable over time but the end result is the scars that serve as a reminder of our suffering and make the bearer, us, all the more resolved to never be wounded again.

It's because of that time moves along, slow or fast doesn't matter because we get lost in distractions to make it easier to bear but other times we act out in frustration, react with aggression and more often then not, we give in to anger and it's all this while that we plot and we plan as we wait to grow stronger and because we distract ourselves, we realise that time has passed us by and we have finally healed and we are ready to begin anew.

Klaus's Painting Room.

Genevieve was just watching and listening to Klaus speak from where she was laying lazily on the couch after having sex with Klaus when she said "It sounds like a man who has made peace with his demons while also still healing" Klaus shook his head while buttoning up his shirt and said "I may still be healing but my demons have been dead or chased off since my family and I became vampires" Genevieve was about to say something when Elijah, who overheard the last part, walked into the room, saw Genevieve there which he glared at her for what she did to his sister and said "That maybe true yes, well apart from the one lingering monster with whom you share a bed with" Elijah held out Genevieve's heels in his hand while still glaring at her and said "I trust that you can find your clothing and the door while you are at it" Genevieve knew when she wasn't wanted because she did torture Rebekah, so she got up from the couch, takes her heels from him and leaves the room to give the brothers some time to talk, when she was further away from the room Elijah pointed at the door with an annoyed face and said "I don't know if you know this but you do recall that woman tortured our sister, right? I have no idea why you are even entertaining her" Klaus walked towards his painting that he started earlier while saying "Should I also remind you that she also revealed the truth about our sister's treachery" Elijah sighed because this is the only thing they have been arguing about since last month and said "Yes I do and as a consequence Rebekah is gone forever, when are you going to get past that?" Klaus sighed because he really didn't want to argue again and said "I don't know but it will still take time for me to really forgive her and she made it clear that it was a desire of hers which she apparetnly harbored for quite some time now!" Elijah rubbed his temples for a minute to get rid of the headache he feels coming on and when it went away Elijah said "Niklaus, I know it has been tough lately but it has been a month" Klaus didn't turn to look at his brother but continued to listen to Elijah when he said "I feel our sister's loss as deeply as you and I get how much hurt she created from what she has done but you must stop distracting yourself with this ridiculous behavior and maybe channel it into some kind of action" Klaus grabs one of the paintbrushes from beside the easel and returns to his art while saying "Why should I, exactly listen to you Elijah?" Klaus was getting the paints ready when Elijah said "Because Niklaus, over the course of Marcel's tenure, the city grew accustomed to having a king running the place" Elijah watched Klaus for a second and said "You have wanted this throne since we returned Niklaus and now because of that, you must accept the responsibility that accompanies that" Klaus started to paint again while still half-paying attention to his brother and said "Apologies for not picking up the slack Elijah but I am rather ensconced in other pursuits that require my attention" Elijah finally had enough, walked closer to Klaus, took the paintbrush from Klaus hand and said "Niklaus, if you can easily neglect your home then I have to wonder what will become of your daughter" Klaus looked at Elijah fully listening this time but didn't say anything when Elijah said "I get it I do but have you really forgotten what it was like to live beneath the threat of violence? We must work together Niklaus" Elijah held the paintbrush out to his brother and said "Let's make this city whole again" Klaus was quiet for a couple of minutes thinking when he said "Perhaps the city is too broken to mend" he got his paintbrush back from his brother and returned to his painting when Elijah said "If you won't do anything, then I will" Elijah left when he said that, leaving Klaus to ponder what his brother said while painting.
