Chapter 20 - A Closer Walk with Thee.

St. Anne's Church (Dream Sequence)

The citizens of the French Quarter are all preparing themselve for Father Kieran's funeral service, a long line of comunity members and family that include Cami, Francesca, Genevieve and Marcel, they made their way to Father Kieran's casket to pay their respects, Klaus arrived late and by the time he reaches the casket, everyone else at the service is already seated in the pews, he sees Cami there that he greets her with a kiss on the cheek before going to give his respects to Father Kieran but when he opens the casket Father Kieran is gone while in his place is a baby, who coos at him which makes him smile, he softly said "Hi" Klaus reached down to pick the baby up but before he could a squishing noise is heard and then he feels blood pouring out of his mouth, he looks down to see that he has been stakes from behind with a indestructible white oak stake, the same one that Esther made with Elena's step-father's ring, when Klaus turned round he saw Mikael standing there grinning madly, Mikael grabs Klaus in a chokehold and he sneered "Greeting, boy" Klaus fought against his hold but before he could do that, he was awoken with a start in his bedroom in the Abbatoir compound, Klaus kept on gasping for a few moments to get his heart back right, he laid back back in bed after that nightmare.

Park.

It's the morning of the wake but Genevieve has Monique, Davina and Abigail walking through the park with her while she continues to lecture the girls on magic and the supernatural, Genevieve gestures around herself and said "New Orleans is full of ghosts, even our loved ones that have died or our witch bretheren and sisters are always here, hovering and when the supernatural creatures die, they are doomed to spend eternity alone while watching the world go on without them, of course that is not the case with the ancestral witches, we tend to linger in a different way, we are consecrated in the earth, replenishing it's power for our future children or descendants" Davina looked at Genevieve and hesitantly said "What about the humans? Where do the go?" Geneviev knew that it's valid question but she never had to think about that but she said "Some find peace while some, don't" Genevieve looked at her watch on her wrist and said "I have to make an appearance at the priest's wake, so I don't know how long that will last but the three of you can go back to the Le Sais, take some time to think about those spirits who might still be walking alongside you right now" Davina knew that Elena would be there but she knew that she would only get told off again so she walked with Abigail back to Le Sais while Monique follows Genevieve as she walks to the funeral service, Monique grumbled for a second and said "Genevieve, I do not know why we are supposed to care about Kieran O'Connel" Geneviev sighed and said "We care Monique because when a pillar of our community passes away, you call a cease-fire and pay your respects because at the end of the day we are celebrating life for the person that the service is for" Monique nodded her head and said "I can understand that but don't think I don't know why you want to go because you want to see Klaus, I can see that you two are getting cozy" Genevieve looked at Monique and said "I stopped being cozy with him a while back but the only reason why is because I need the Mikaelsons to trust me so can get close enough..." Monique cut in and said "To kill their baby?" Genevieve pulled Monique aside and said "Keep your voice down, you have no idea who can be listening, you may be blunt to say that but I do keep my promise to fullfill my obligation to our ancestors but you can't keep shouting about it, so go home Monique" Genevieve walks away from Monique, who is frowning watching Genevieve leave.

Rousseau's - Father Kieran's Wake.

At Rousseasu's, all the Quarter has gathered to throw an Irish-style wake in Kieran's honor, complete with Irish music, tons of people have gathered to share stories of Father Kieran and celebrate his life, while everyone is mingling together, Klaus is sitting alone at a table with a glass of scotch but he is joined by Cami, who waved her hand in front of his face and said "Hey, Earth to Klaus, is anyone there?" Klaus shook his head, looked up at Cami only to that she's got wounds on her face and said "Your face..." Cami cut him off and said "Will heal," Cami sighed and said "Listen, I wanted to thank you.." she was cut off by Klaus, who said "Cami, unless you have come equipped with the means to fill this," Klaus held the glass he has got in his hand and said "no additional platituse are necessary" Cami rolled her eyes and said "Okay, I know why I am in a crappy mood because my uncle just died and I have to see people partying like it's Mardi Gras, but what's your excuse?" Cami notices that Klaus is scowling at her and she said "Come on Klaus, what going on?" Klaus sighed, took a sip of his drink and answered Cami's question "I have been having these dreams about my dead father, I don't need to be diagnosed love, I have already got this one covered: my fears of fatherhood and of scarring my child as my father scarred me, they are manifesting as nightmares" Klaus smiled fakely, took a long drink and said "It is horrifically cliche" Cami nodded her head then she again she was surprised that Klaus admitted it and said "I got to be truthful Klaus, I am just surprised to hear you acknowledge out loud that you are going to be a dad" Klaus rolled his eyes and said "I has things that I have been focusing on more" Cami nodded her head and said "Like your baby mama has been living out in the Bayou for months, it is not exactly What To Expect When You're Expecting" Marcel enters the bar, which Klaus notices as he listens to Cami speak, Klaus looked at Cami and said "I know more about the trials of fatherhood than you might imagine Camille" Cami sees Marcel walk up to the bar while saying "And it worked out for you so well the first time, why change a thing?" Cami leaves the table while Klaus catches Marcel's eye across the restaurant, which he traiggers a memory.
