Something wasn't right, again.
Sam sat up quickly, his eyes dashing around the room but it was too dark to see far ahead. From what he could tell, however, 'Jacob' must've went home.
The feeling didn't go away. Something wasn't right and it made his stomach twist. His leg was throbbing immensely but he was able to ignore it just a bit when walking.
He put on different clothes and climbed out of the window by his bed. Leaving it slightly cracked for his cat, as always.
"The forest.." Sam felt a type of urge to go to the forest, unknown as to why as well. He started to run to the directly to the forest, stumbling and losing his grip in the dirt a lot on the way there.
He ran directly to the opening and gasped at the sight. Ethan and Jacob, They seemed as if they were fighting. 'Jacob' was covered in dirt and a black substance. It was too dark to see truly what was happening. It was until Sam saw the glint of a gun in the hand of Ethan.
He was scared for 'Jacob.' It was on impulse that Sam scrambled to Save him, it was on accident that he was shot. "SAM?!" Both of the yelled as the other fell to the ground, seemingly paralyzed.
Ethan was more in shock, 'Jacob' has a chance to kill him now. "Don't think about it. I still have the gun. You are nothing a mere-"
"Shut.. up." Sam muttered, a blood trail came from his mouth. Was he bleeding internally? He got on his hands and then his feet, stumbling around slightly. "Sam.."
'Jacob' was in shock, last time it recalled, Sam didn't even like it. Was he attached to the body or the memories? There was no way Sam would make the decision to .. save it.
"What was that.." Sam held his stomach, fresh blood covered his shirt. "..Are you.. really Sam?"
"Huh?" Sam raised an eye brow and looked directly at Ethan. "Of course I am, what kind of stupid question is that?"
"This isn't a gun." Ethan waved it around, the look in his face spelt fear and pity. "Of course it is! You shot me just now!"
"With water. With Holy water." Sam looked down, there was no way. He was human! Holy water only affects those who are ghosts or demons!! Never a full human!
"What-"
"Who are you and what are you?" 'Jacob' reached out to Sam, pulling him back into it's body. "Don't you think he needs some type of intervention first?"
"It was water-"
"He's bleeding. Possibly internally, he's injured."Sam looked up at the other. Did it care about him? Ethan sighed and clicked his tongue. "Fine. Bring him to the church."
"Will you not help?" 'Jacob' didn't get an answer. Ethan walked away and soon disappeared into the darkness.
"Can you let go of me?" Sam muttered. "Oh, sorry." The two started to their treck to walk back to the town and into the church. They hadn't much to say to each other, this wasn't even a time to crack a joke which 'Jacob' hated.
Outside of the church, The Local pastor stood by the door. He Invited them in and allowed Sam to sit near the front of the Church on one of the benches.
"So, let me get this correct. This boy is a demon, and so is Samuel?"
Ethan sighed. "Father, I have told this to you time and time again."
'Jacob' sat beside Sam, watching them talk back and forth before the older man came over to them. "Samuel."
"Father.." Sam looked down at his wounds. "Care to explain what happened to lead up to this?" He meant 'Jacob's' body and form by the looks of it.
"I.. It's a long story." Sam muttered. "Long story, it is. Looks like I'll have to sit down, eh?" Ethan stood beside then as Sam explained to the two what happened to lead up to these current events.
"So, This Jacob Boy.. had died because you two decided to Elope in a forest."
"When you make it sound like that.." Sam fidgeted with his hands. "This still doesn't answer my question. Sam, Why did the water affect you like it did?"
There was silence before 'Jacob' finally spoke up. "That's.. my fault, actually." It gestured to his legs. They had sam show them his leg and they were surprised to see a black veiny substance fused into it.
"I had let myself Lose whilst being attacked and accidentally let a part of me escape into Sam.."
There was silence. "What are you? I can't find anything on you except for Books written by local people here in the past. Besides that, nothing. Zero."
'Jacob' seemed hesitant to answer. "Think of it as a divine punishment.." after that, 'Jacob' refused go answer anymore questions except for one.
"What do you want with our town?"
It took a minute for it to actually answer, however, Everyone else found themselves unsatisfied with the answer it gave them.
"I simply want to live a normal life."
"You should be aware, that you are throwing off the balance. I'm not sure how strong you may be, but you are certainly strong enough to throw off the balance of the paranormal." Ethan crossed his arms. "You have to go back to what you were doing before or else we will have to make you."
'Jacob' looked uneasy, it bounced it's leg and sighed. "Can't you have a lil' sympathy? You don't know how it feels to be stuck in a forest for hundreds of years. Watching generations pass and yet, you can't interact with them."
"Sympathy? Yeah okay. Why would I have sympathy for something Evil in nature. Demons are demons, they don't change." 'Jacob's' face darkened. He really wanted to speak up but what good would it do.
"We don't want to kill you-"
'Jacob' clasped it's hands together and bent over. "PLEASE LET ME STAY, I'LL DEAL WITH THE BALANCE BUT I CAN'T AFFORD GOING BACK."
Both Father and Ethan were caught off guard by it's sudden pleading. "I just want to stay, at least for the summer. I promise I'll take care of everything if nobody gets in the way!!"
It couldn't believe that something as powerful as itself, stooped down to a level of yearning for human relationships once again.
"Jacob.." Sam muttered, watching the whole scene go down. The father sighed and shook his head, "how could I turn down such a nice gentleman.."
"Father!! If something happens to the town, You will be the one held responsible!!" Ethan held the bridge of his nose. "I am well aware, my boy. But I truly have faith in this creature. If nobody gets in the way, I believe it can keep the balance.."
'Jacob' looked up, a hopeful glint in it's eyes. "So I can stay!!?"
"As long as you protect this town, the moment someone dies under the hands of a demon, the moment you will too." 'Jacob' nodded. "I believe.. that is fair."
The father sent a smile it's way. "Alrighty then."
The two were later sent home around one o' clock in the morning. "Is it safe to go back home.. bloody?"
"Yeah.. Yeah it's fine."
The two said their goodbyes and separated.
If only we knew what happened to Olivia..
