"The Balance, eh?" Ethan frowned. "And you believe it killed Olivia?"

"I'm sure you've noticed it, right? How out of wack everything seems lately." 'Jacob' tried to convince Ethan but it seemed as if he didn't want to hear it. "C'mon guys, Seriously? I have enough stress on my back already, I'm not looking to deal with this too."

"All we're asking is for help. You don't have to help us directly but any lead, anything. is good enough." Sam spoke up and when the other didn't respond, Sam spoke again. "Ethan, Please! I'm begging you, You don't understand. My best friend since kindergarten just died, nobody likes me, and I just tried to kill myself. We need to fix this then maybe life can return to normal!"

"Woah woah, YOU just tried to WHAT?!" Ethan raised his voice and immediately quieted it, fearing other people hearing. "It isn't that important right now, I'm still here, aren't I?"

"It isn't important, my ass! You're seeing a therapist right After I.. Help you guys." 'Jacob' and Sam cheered quietly and high-fived. "Listen, I'll help you. But I have a feeling this won't be easy. I suggest you protect the ones you love first and foremost."

"How hard do you think it'd be?" Sam muttered, His anxiety started to kick in and made his thoughts spiral. Could he do this and be okay? "With the three of us, one of us will be lucky we don't die and not pointing fingers, But Sam. You are simply a regular human, you could be injured."

"I'll take that chance, I need to avenge her. I need to keep everyone safe, I know it's not my responsibility but who else will step up besides you two if I'm not here?" Sam felt tears prick at his eyes and he had to blink them back. Ethan sighed and shook his head. "Alright, well. I'm not exactly sure what to give you. You can't have anything from here because I'm sure it'd burn you-"

A smile crept onto Ethan's face, he smiled from ear to ear and chuckled a little. "I have a plan and it might just work."

Ethan whispered to them to truly make sure no one outside the room could hear. "There's one problem with the plan though."

"And that is?" 'Jacob' crossed its arms. "Both you and Sam can't go onto the land, It's a blessed land and it could truly hurt both of you."

They looked at each through side glances. "We'll find a way, remember that I and 'Jacob' here were at the top of our STEM classes for a year or two!" Sam bragged and looked proud of himself. "While Humor is appreciated, I don't think it's working in this situation."

"How high does it go?" 'Jacob' mumbled. "If you mean the blessing, it's supposed to cover a large area, up to a mile high."

"Okay."

"What are you planning?" Sam was curious, not even he nor Ethan could think of a plan. If 'Jacob' had a good one, they could do this. Like seriously do this.

"I was thinking that I can manipulate this body however I want. I can use excess parts of it to jump higher into the air and somewhat over the area. If I can have the spirits follow me through a series of distractions and if they're stupid enough, I can lead them into the area where they would immediately be exorcised." Ethan and Sam looked at each other and nodded. "That would be a good idea, but who would be the bait?"

'Jacob' and Ethan both glanced over at Sam and then away immediately. "Screw you guys. Like, seriously." Sam groaned like a child. "Maybe later, Sam. Maybe later."

"WHAT!?"

Before anything else could happen, There was a hard knock on the door. "Ethan! Get back out here, I know you're hiding from the rest of the family! We came to see you, don't cha think that's rude!!" It was a deep male voice behind the door. "Oh, so you're going to lock the door, huh? I'll kick it down if you don't come out in ten..."

"Okay, You guys oughta leave now. I'll be back in an hour."

"What's the harm of him finding us?" Sam questioned. "It looks gay, and I'm not into either of you like that but they'll make it seem like that. Plus, it's obvious you guys are into someone else."

"and that's my cue to leave!" Both Sam and 'Jacob' climbed out of the window and onto the grass. They heard Ethan unlock the door just before the countdown ended and listened in on his scolding.

"I suppose we should leave? Or rather, wait?" 'Jacob' followed Sam, who started to walk away from the church and down the sidewalk in front. "Alright so, I'm not sure how that'll happen.."

"What do you mean?" Sam stopped in his tracks. "The whole being the bait thing, I can't exactly walk without a limp. Let alone run fast enough to not get attacked by monsters!"

'Jacob' rubbed the back of its head and laughed awkwardly. "That would be my fault. with your leg, if that's what you mean. anything that involves me in living beings, is usually because of my emotions taking over. It's like a defense thing."

"Is there any way to get it off?"

"I'm sure there is, but I always concluded it meant I had to die or disappear for a while." Sam nodded. "that's fine, I'll figure it out to be honest. It'll be fine."

They spent the rest of the time walking around the smaller parts of town for an hour, it was relatively quiet except for the occasional dog barking at 'Jacob.'

They stayed at the park, it was eerily quiet especially for it being summer. "Guys!" Ethan walked towards them in the distance. He was wearing a heavy-duty jacket you'd usually see in the morning winter, not for the summer night breeze.

"Are you guys ready?" Both Sam and 'Jacob' stood up from their seats. "Yeah.."

"Yeah. we're ready."
