Sam prepared himself to die even after he realized this wasn't the answer. He wasn't scared, simply just disappointed in himself. He squeezed his closed eyes tighter and breathed in, only to discover he could still breathe. He felt the rope around his neck but it didn't tighten like it was supposed to.

"Sam.." Upon hearing his name from a familiar voice, he opened his eyes and looked up. "Jacob..?"

The other hugged him tightly, softly crying into his shirt. 'Jacob' had never experienced emotions like this even when other people had died or killed themselves, so why is it experiencing something like this now? For a boy who was much younger than it chronologically as well.

Sam felt he had a second chance at life, he felt... relieved. He felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders but it wasn't completely gone for sure. Sam immediately pushed the other off of him, making sure it was okay from what happened a week ago. He wasn't acting himself then, all he could see was red then. He wasn't thinking clearly because if he were, he would've never done something like that. especially to the extent of stabbing someone, had it been someone human, that would've killed them.

"A..are you okay?" Sam cleared his throat, feeling the small rope burn around his neck. He took the rope off from around his neck and threw it on the ground. "yeah, Yeah I'm fine. If you mean from.. then."

Sam sighed, mainly from relief. "Thank god, Look I'm..." 'Jacob' interrupted him. "It's okay. I don't hate you."

Sam smiled. "Thank you.." He mouthed and hugged 'Jacob' again. This felt like a bittersweet reunion, one from a sappy TV show. However, neither cared. They were just glad to be around each other again. "Where were you all this time? I heard... You left and never came back."

"Ever since.." it sighed. "Olivia died, there's been an interrupted balance in the forest. Everything has noticed I'm gone most of the time. They feel as if it's their chance to take over."

"They? There's more of you?"

"Yeah, not as powerful, however, if anything.. they're extremely weak to me. But to someone like you... They could kill you. Like they did Olivia." Sam felt his mouth open, he had so many questions. What did it mean by "Like they did Olivia?"

"What does this have to do with Olivia?" Sam frowned, hoping the other wasn't just mentioning her to mention her.

"Haven't you realized? She didn't commit suicide on her terms, the spirits tried to get you riled up. They knew how close you were with her and realized if they make you hate me. I'd have no reason to be in the town and would possibly even be exorcised by the church."

Sam gulped, these spirits were smart. Too smart. Their plan almost worked as well. Sam didn't even realize that by him committing suicide, he could cause 'Jacob' to get exorcised by the church and cause a total imbalance in the spirit world.

"I have to keep the balance, which means I have to leave to keep it." 'Jacob' looked sad, as if it wasn't ready to leave, "I'll come with you then!" Sam stood up and grabbed his traveling bag. "Sam."

"I could bring some weapons the church has an-"

"Samuel." 'Jacob's' Face darkened. "You cannot come with me. You could die and I can't risk that for you. You have people who love you. I don't-"

"I'm coming with, like it or not." Sam put stuff in his backpack. "C'mon, we're going to the church."

Sam climbed out of his open window and waited for Jacob to follow him. It was pretty late at night but not late enough for people to not be awake. They walked through the backyards and empty spaces of land behind people's houses. Making their way to the church was easier than they both thought.

"It's open, c'mon." Sam pushed open the door to the church, he went in, and 'Jacob' followed after him.

Ethan and a few other people were talking to each other, once Ethan noticed Sam and 'Jacob', he sighed and quit his conversation with the other people.

"Sammmm!!" he faked a nice smile with the both of them until they got close to each other. "What are you doing here? And you, don't you know other people even started a search party for you?"

Ethan scowled. "We need your help, Ethan."

"Ha! Funny, I don't exactly want to be associated with a psychopath-"

"Shut up. He had a reason for what he did. So you should mind your own business before I teach you what a psychopath looks like." 'Jacob's' face twisted into a smile that looked genuine. He cracked his knuckles and Ethan groaned.

"Look, I'm not trying to be rude on my terms. You're my friend but People in the town would shun me for talking to you, Sam. I'm the next owner of the church, I have to keep up a good reputation."

Sam glared at him. "Come back later, we can talk then. I'll help you with the balance then." Ethan winked at them and went back to talking to the group of people he was talking to before.

The two sat outside of the church for a long time, they sat on the wet grass near the side of the church. Sam was going to avenge Olivia. He was going to live for her. Even if it meant hurting himself in the process.

"Psst- Jacob, Sam," Ethan whispered from an open window above them. "Come up here!"

The window was taller than 'Jacob' by himself, there was no way either of them would reach it on their own. "Why can't we come through the door?"

"For your safety, now both of you get up here!" Sam shook his head and had 'Jacob' help him up using its shoulders. Sam climbed through the window and 'Jacob' climbed up on his own.

"Now, what did you two need? If it's about the balance then.."

"It's about the balance."

"Great way to start our conversation.."

This was it. They could avenge Olivia and keep the spirits at bay, hell! They could probably save the Town!!

If only it was that easy.
