When Sam entered his house through his bedroom window, he noticed his phone was illuminated with messages.
He closed the window and landed on his bed. It was pretty late so no one should be texting him now.
When he looked, he had what seemed like fifty messages from Olivia and Six missed calls. Most of the messages were spam of his name.
Some, however, is what set him off.
"Sam, please answer. They're here, I'm scared."
"I can do this anymore, Sam. I'm so alone."
"SAM PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU, THEY'RE GOING TO HURT ME!!"
The last message ended with an "I'm sorry" and no punctuations. Sam immediately tried calling her multiple times, yet she didn't pick up.
"Olivia.. pick up, dumbass.." He muttered into the phone, this time it picked up. "OLIVIA-"
Heavy breathing came from the phone, like your typical horror movie. There was noises in the background and then it hung up.
Sam scrambled from his bed and opened the window. He climbed out and started running to Olivia's house through the backyards. Her house wasn't far, but it felt as if it was taking him forever just to get a few houses over.
The sense of dread filled his head. Hopefully she was okay, hopefully she was fine..
He stopped at her house and noticed no lights were on except the living room and the bathroom light. He noticed Olivia's bedroom window was open all the way, which would never happen due to her animals Being able to get out.
He climbed through with a second thought, slowly opening her bedroom door. He didn't know where he was going but he knew that he needed to start somewhere.
There were people in the living room so that was off limits along with the kitchen. He wouldn't be going in other bedrooms, so that meant Olivia's brother and parents.
"C'mon..." he called her phone again and heard it ring across the hall, from the bathroom. It didn't pick up again. He snuck slowly to the room in front of hers, the door was locked.
He swore under his breath and shook his head. What would he do now-
Climb into the bathroom through the window. He climbed out of her room and ran to the other side of the house. The window was cracked open, making it easy access for him.
He climbed through and saw her phone on the counter. He grabbed it and stuffed it in his pocket. "Olivia?" He whispered.
He looked to his side, there was someone in the bathtub. This was a new low but he let out a breath of relief and slightly opened it. The water was red, why was it red? This prompted him to open it more. Though, that may have been a mistake.
His breath was immediately taken away, he couldn't scream or yell. He immediately froze as she sat in the bathtub, fully clothed. Her clothes were dyed red and so was her skin.
He held up her wrist and almost threw up. She was cold, She was dead. There was no pulse, just blood coming from her wrist very slowly.
He chuckled awkwardly, "this is a dream, this had to be a dream."
He pinched himself. He didn't even realize someone was behind him, "what the hell?"
He whipped his head around, 'Jacob' stood there. Completely in shock. "Is she.."
Sam felt almost zero emotions, he didn't feel anything. Not even pity for her, dead in the bathtub.
"How long have you been here.." his voice was quiet. His fist balled up as he was shaking a bit. "S-Since you came in.."
"Did.. you.."
"No. I was.." 'Jacob' went quiet. "You did, didn't you?" Sam looked at him, his eyes crazed and his face darkened.
Before 'Jacob' could respond, there was a soft knock on the door. "Olivia? Are you in there?"
"We have to leave." 'Jacob' muttered. "Why? Escape the crime scene?"
"No, unless you want to be charged with murder and spend the rest of your life somewhere else.. then I suggest we get out of her together." Sam felt anger build up in him.
"Olivia, if you don't open this door, I'm going to have your father kick it down."
The two climbed out of the window and cracked it back, Sam forgot to leave Olivia's phone there.
They walked away from the house through the backyards and at some point, almost strayed into the forest. "Sam.. I-"
"Shut up. Just.. shut up." Sam muttered and stopped in his tracks. "I.. I didn't do it. I know Olivia is important to you, why would I do that?-"
Quicker than 'Jacob' could get it's words out, Sam tackled it. "YOU ASSHOLE! YOU KILLED HER!! YOU KILLED HER, YOU WERE THERE!!"
Sam started to hit it, much to 'Jacob' trying to stop him and calm him down. Sam didn't stop even after the other started to 'bleed', although it's blood wasn't red, it was obvious it was still like blood.
"WHY ARE YOU EVEN HERE, ALL YOU'VE DONE IS RUIN MY LIFE!!" Sam started to cry, his fist bloodied with a black substance. "Stop hitting me!"
'Jacob' looked at him yet another punch came his way along with yelling. "STOP!" A black substance surrounded them and it pushed Sam off into the dirt a foot away from the other.
Sam looked up, the other had tentacle-like mechanisms coming from it's back. It looked as if It was hurt and truly wanted to hurt back. Sam broke down into a sob and shielded himself.
Sam yelled at it, "IF YOU'RE GOING TO KILL ME, JUST DO IT!!"
It immediately snapped 'Jacob' out of the feeling of wanting to kill sam for what he had done to it. For what he had said to it. "Sam.."
Sam sobbed loudly, all of his words incoherent except for a few. "I can't do this anymore!! I can't! I can't keep being here!!"
'Jacob' stepped towards him, immediately running and tackling him. Tears flowed from it's eyes, it felt.. sad. It felt sad for him. And it usually never felt sad for humans.
It hugged Sam tightly. Much to the other's surprise. "I'm sorry.. I'm so sorry." 'Jacob' cried for him. It felt connected to him. It didn't want him to feel this way.
"I can't do this anymore.. Please.. kill me. Please, I'm begging you.." Sam muttered, 'Jacob' hugged him tighter.
"Please don't say that.. I can't lose you. Not again, I can't lose anyone else." Sam hugged it back. They didn't separate for a while either, When they did? They walked back to Sam's house, just staying there for the night. It was closer than walking to Jacob's.
They held hands and ignored the ambulances and police cars zooming there way down to Olivia's house. They probably stayed in the same vicinity for the rest of the night.
If only Sam could cherish this moment, but he was too caught up on Olivia and the old Jacob.. His two friends. He was alone. He had no one now.
He had no one..
