Proposal

"Hey Georgie," Rory said, flopping down onto George’s bed beside him.

“Hey, Ror” he smiled, putting down the stack of product labels he’d been organising.

“You excited about the grand opening tomorrow?” she asked, chin resting on her hands as she peered up at him. George exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Yeah. Also feel like I might throw up. A little” Rory laughed.

“That’s just nerves. Totally normal. You and Fred have built something amazing. You’re going to be brilliant” He smiled at her.

“Thanks, Rory. Honestly, don’t know how I’m supposed to survive without you around once you’re off in Romania. You’ve been part of this madness since the start” She sat up and pulled him into a tight hug.

“You’ll survive, Georgie. And I’ll be back all the time plus you’re welcome to come out to Romania whenever you want I can't be without my best friends for too long" He chuckled as they pulled apart and she stood. “Right, I’m off to the Burrow. Gonna see Mama Bear and Gin. You coming?”

“Nah, I’ll head over tomorrow. Gotta finish prepping the display for our love potions”

“Of course you do” she said with a grin, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek before heading off to find Fred and doing the same. Then with a crack she was gone. Rory apparated just outside the garden and spotted Bill feeding the chickens. “Hey, Pillock,” she greeted casually.

“Hey, Rory” he smiled, brushing a feather off his shoulder and giving her a quick hug. “Wanna help?”

“Absolutely.” She rolled up her sleeves and grabbed a handful of feed. As they scattered grain around the pecking hens, Bill said,

“Mum’s going to be happy to see you” Rory gave him a sideways glance.

“Why? What’ve you done?”

“Nothing! It’s just two reasons. One: she loves you, you’re her extra child, basically. And two: Fleur’s here” Rory winced.

“Still not a fan, then?” Bill gave her a look.

“She’s trying. Mum isn’t”

“She’ll come around. You’re her baby boy. No one’s going to be good enough for her boys. Except me, of course”

“She does like you more than most of us” he muttered.

“Well, she’s known me since I was in nappies. That earns loyalty points” They headed into the house and Bill shouted,

“Mum, look who I found in the chicken pen!” Molly came bustling in, apron on and eyes lighting up.

“Rory, my darling girl!”

“Hey, Mama Bear!” Rory hugged her tightly, only to be immediately ambushed by Ginny.

“Rory! You’ve been gone forever!”

“I saw you a week ago, Gin”

“Still too long. No one here appreciates my genius like you do”

“Well, it takes one to know one,” Rory said, smirking. Molly ushered her into the kitchen, already pouring tea. Rory noticed Fleur in the doorway and smiled. “Hey, Fleur”

“Bonjour, Aurora” Fleur said warmly. “I ‘ope you are well”

“You can call me Rory” she replied, accepting the tea. “Thanks, Mama Bear”

“Are you staying for dinner?” Molly asked, sitting down beside her.

“I was just going to head back, actually”

“Rory, please stay” Ginny begged. “Ron and Harry are off at yours, so it’s a boy-free zone here. Mostly”

“Alright, alright. You win”

Distractions

"Fred, George" Charlie calls the twins as he apparates to their flat.

"What's up Charlie" George asks.

"I need you two to distract Rory tomorrow all day"

"Why?" Fred asks raising his brow.

"I'm going to ask her to marry me you idiots but I need her distracted whilst I sort stuff out" Fred and George smirk at each other "Can you do it or not" Charlie asks looking between them.

"We sure can. We've got some stock checking we need to get done so she can help with that" George says as Fred nods.

"Thank you" The following day the twins keep Rory busy like they told Charlie they would whilst he gets everything sorted with the help of Bill. Rory was sat with the twins in their old room at the Burrow checking their inventory with them.

“Do we really need a separate column for ‘Exploding Toffees – Lemon Flavour’?” she grumbled.

“Yes” Fred said with mock seriousness, “it’s the superior flavour” A knock interrupted them. Charlie stood in the doorway, smiling.

“Nova, can I borrow you for a bit?”

“Sure” she said, standing up. He took her hand, fingers warm and familiar. He led her through the house, out into the late afternoon sun and down the garden path toward the lake. Fairy lights glittered in the trees, and lilies and roses floated on the water’s surface. Rory stopped. “Charlie, what?” He brought her to the very spot where they’d first kissed and dropped to one knee.
“Aurora Nova Potter you are a pain in the arse, a hurricane of chaos, and the love of my life. This is where we started, and I want this to be the spot where you say yes to forever. Will you marry me?” She stared, eyes wide, hands covering her mouth. Then she nodded.

“Yes.” Cheers erupted as their friends and family emerged from the trees, James, Lily, Sirius, Remus, Molly, Arthur, Bill, Ginny, even Percy, all smiling. James enveloped her in a hug.

“My little girl’s getting married” Remus squeezed her shoulder.

“So happy for you, Wolf” Sirius gave Charlie a long look.

“Hurt her and we make it look like an accident” Charlie gave a respectful nod.

“Understood.” The twins threw their arms around her, grinning.

“You sneaky gits!” Rory said, laughing. “You knew!”

“Yep. Kept you busy, didn’t we?” Fred said smirking. Molly hugged her tightly.

“You’ve always been like a daughter to me. Now it’s official.?” Finally, Bill hugged her.

“Welcome to the family, officially” She pulled away, grinning up at Charlie.

“I guess I’m stuck with you now” she teased.

“You love it” he said, grinning back and kissing her. As they turned toward the house together, hand in hand, Fred shouted from behind

“Oi, Aurora Potter soon-to-be Weasley!”

“What?” she called.

“You’ve just agreed to marry a bloke who collects dragon dung for a living!”

“Have to be mad,” George added.

“I am mad” she called back, laughing. “I’m friends with you two, aren’t I?” Charlie smiled down at her.

“Still want to marry me, Nova?”

“Always”
