Afterwards, everyone didn't say much.
Josephine and Albert only talked about some company matters, and Albert didn't say much either. He seemed lazy and relaxed, only occasionally responding.
Meanwhile, Vernon kept peeling shrimp for his silent junior.
Maybe it was because I was too nervous, or maybe it was because I felt disgusted, my stomach kept churning.
And then I actually threw up.
Josephine saw my pale face and said, "Lorraine, are you okay? I'll have Vernon take you to the hospital."
I quickly shook my head. I was afraid that if I looked at him, I would feel even more nauseous. "No need, maybe I just had heatstroke. I'll go back and rest."
" Albert, are you going to the company later? Can you drop Lorraine off at school on your way?" she turned to Albert and asked.
That's when I found out his name was Albert.
"No need." I said.
"Alright." He said.
We both answered at the same time.
The atmosphere became awkward again.
"Now let's go, I have a meeting," he grabbed his suit and completely ignored my words.
As he walked past me, he whispered, "Don't want to leave?"
After he said that, he glanced towards Vernon.
I immediately understood what he meant. Of course, I wanted to leave, I didn't want to stay for another second.
"Alright," I forced a smile, "Thanks."
"Mm," he didn't say anything more, and walked ahead with his suit in hand.
I followed behind him with an anxious mood.
Some things can't be undone, both for Vernon and for me. But I have to resolve it.
