"What are you thinking about?" he asked when I secretly glanced at him with a sympathetic look for the last time.

I was startled and immediately averted my gaze. Oh my god! Wasn't he looking at his phone? Did he grow eyes on his forehead to see me?

"Just thinking about what to eat tonight," I lied casually.

He looked at me for a moment, then raised his hand to check the mechanical watch on his wrist. "I can't free up time tonight."

"Huh?" I was confused.

Maybe there really was a generation gap, I felt like there was a whole Pacific Ocean between him and me.

"Next time then," I said, as I had just said it without thinking.

To my surprise, he replied very seriously, "Okay."

Me: ...

Later, I asked him to drop me off near my campus, just one street away.

He glanced at me, but didn't say anything.

I got out of the car and hurriedly walked towards the gate.

But then, I unintentionally turned back and noticed that his car was still following me.

Why was he following me?

I was puzzled, wondering if he had some ulterior motive.

I was so scared that I almost started running, but at that moment, his car made a beautiful U-turn ahead and sped away.

It turned out I was overthinking. I let out a sigh of relief and walked briskly back to my dormitory.

Once I was back in my dorm, the first thing I did was gather all the things that were once between me and Vernon and packed them into a box. Then, I deleted all of his contact information and blocked him.

When I lay in bed to sleep, I clenched my teeth. Due to the limit on my bank card, I transferred five thousand to Albert first.

And attached a message: "Can you keep that thing a secret?"

He didn't accept the money, nor did he reply.

Did he think it was too little? After a few days, I increased my credit limit and transferred ten thousand to him again.

But he still didn't accept it and there was no response.

I cried, I really didn't have a single penny left.

Since he didn't reply, I decided to put this matter aside for now.
