Quick warning, I have no idea how a swim match goes, so I'm sorry if this is inaccurate
As promised, I gave the host club the address of my meet, and that weekend they were all there, along with my wise girl, mom and Paul. But I did a double take, and counted two more people.. Wait!
"Dad! Tyson!" I yelled happily, giving them both hugs.
"Brother!" He yelled, picking me up. He was already much taller than me. The club looked confused, and kyoya looked like he was about to bring out his own sword. But he calmed down when I seemed to know him.
"Guys, this is my dad and little brother! Tyson, dad, why didn't you tell me you were coming?"
"We wanted to surprise you." Kyoya, Nico and Annabeth bowed, and the rest of the club did, but for a different reason. I've found in Japan, people bow as a greeting.
"Annabeth, it's nice to see you again. You're keeping my son in line?"
"As always." She was doing her best to not call him lord posidon, since that would be awkward.
"Nice to see you uncle. Were you aware I had a nephew?"
"I was aware of my brothers curiosity with this side of the world, but I was unaware of that." Nico smiled. He turned to me, a smile on his face. "Crush this, okay?"
"You already know I will." I said confidently. "My team's going to destroy this."
"You seem confident Percy. How come?" Tamaki asked.
"Well for starters, I'm the captain so I have a say in who trains with what and who, and second, My team has a lot of competitive swimmers. I've been training them with the coach and vice captain." He nodded, understanding. I heard a whistle blow, and gave Tyson one last hug, seeing as it's been a while since I saw him.
"Peanut butter!" We yelled together, before I started laughing with dad, and went down to the meet to warm up.
"So, why did your sons yell 'peanut butter?'" Haruhi asked, nor being able to understand much English, but could do a rough translation.
"Is that what they said?" Even mori looked amused.
"They got into a fight over the stuff years ago, yelling about how they both wanted it when they were over at my place." Posidon lied. "Ever since then, when something competitive happens, they just yell it."
"That's so cute!" Honey yelled, and posidon patted his head gently.
"Well, that's my sons for you. Silly, but adorable." He turned to Sally, and gave her a gentle hug. "Sally! How's the baby?"
"She likes to dance on my bladder a lot, but other than that, she's good." He turned to Paul, and shook his hand.
"You treating my son and future daughter in law well?"
"Yes sir. He is my stepson after all."
"Okay, am I crazy, or does the entire room smell like the sea?" Honey asked. "Usually pools smell like chlorine."
"Sorry, that's me. I work on the ocean as a sailor. Hence why I never married Sally." Another lie. well, it wasn't an entire lie, but still. "Tyson here works with me. I educate him best I can on the open ocean." Mori shrugged.
"The meets about to start." Was all he said, and Sally sat on a bench.
"Seaweed brain! You better do good out there!" Annabeth yelled, and Percy smiled back, giving her a wave. He got the hidden message. 'No powers.'
A whistle blew, and the swimmers were off, Percy gaining first place almost instantly. Annabeth wasn't sure if he was using his abilities with water, or pure strength, but either way, she couldn't deny she was proud. He reached the end first, and pushed off it to get back, miles ahead of the other swimmers. "Wow! He's so fast!" Posidon smirked. He knew why he was of course, but didn't say anything about it.
"Yeah. He really is."
"I never realized how much he liked to swim."
"Are you kidding? He loves it! When he was a child and I took him to the beach, I almost couldn't get him out of the water." Sally said happily, thinking of how her and her little girl would have that too with Percy and Paul. Just a few months more.
I heard the hosts cheering me on with my family when the next whistle blew, letting me know I made it first. I cheered for myself, climbing out, making sure I had willed myself to be wet. My team mates weren't far behind me, while some members of the opposing side were close behind.
Other team mates were either cheering me and the others on, or were at another school for their own matches. We had about seven other schools there from all around japan, all going at different times. I had won the first round for my team, and was going up next for my school.
Something felt off though. I reached for riptide, and gripped it tightly, glad that my swim shorts had pockets. I saw a student from another school glaring at me, and my gut told me to run. But I stayed calm, and did nothing. He would likely attack when I was alone, or with just the other demigods. More than likely, people wouldn't even remember him once he was killed and sent back to Tartarus. Thank the gods for the mist. Although because if it, I couldn't tell what it was yet, but whatever it was, it was big. I blinked a couple times, and it seemed to get bigger and bigger, and then it hit me.
It was a giant.
I pretended not to notice it and took my hand out of my pocket, but didn't bring out riptide. Not yet. That would have to wait for later.
After most of the meet was over, and we were taking a break, the giant came up to me. I pretended I didn't know and walked into the locker rooms, telling my team I was grabing my water. They shrugged it off, and didn't seem to question the guy following me from a distance, thinking he was just doing the same.
Hiding in the locker room probrably wasn't my best bet, but it was all I had. I needed to be away from prying eyes. I hid in a shower stall, and waited until I heard the door open. After it closed, I uncapped riptide, and waited for him to draw closer.
"Little demigod, come out to play." It called. I heard it sniff the air, and step closer. Once it was near, I jumped out and swung my sword at it. I managed to cut it, but not deep enough. It laughed, and threw me to the side. I groaned.
"Come on, is that all you got? My mortal grandma can throw me harder than that!" I scoffed, despite the pain. I got up quickly, and rolled out of the way for the next attack. The best advantage I had was my speed. Giants are strong, but incredibly slow.
As it started to turn, I plunged my sword into its side, making it scream out in pain as it turned to gold dust. I heard the door open, and quickly capped riptide, and held my foot.
"Percy? You okay?" One of my team mates asked. I chuckled.
"Yeah, sorry about that Kei. Stubbed my toe kind of hard. I'm fine, it just hurt a lot."
"Okay... Well hurry up, the next round is about to start." He closed the door, and I sighed in relief. Thank the gods he bought that.
I headed outside, and finished the match, my team coming in first place. I smiled happily as we gathered for the photo with the trophy that would go on to decorate the school's hall.
All in all, I'd say it was a pretty good day.
