Proposal

It was the weekend after that girl came around. I think her name was renge or something. It wasn't important right now though. What was important, was my upcoming date with wise girl, where hopefully, I'll propose to her.

I had been saving up, doing small jobs to get extra money from mom and Paul. It took me months of saving up, but I had enough to take her on a nice date. The plan was to spend the day together in Karuizawa and stay the night at a little bed and breakfast before doing a little more sightseeing in the city. Hopefully, I'll find the perfect place to ask her! There were a lot of temples with interesting architecture I knew would interest her, so if all goes to plan, she'll be my fiancée soon enough.

"Percy, you ready to go? We're gonna miss our train if you keep spacing out!" She told me, and I snapped out of it, a huge smile on my face.

"I'm ready. You're good with your bag, right?"

"Of course I am. Let's get going." She was practically pulling me along, excited to see the temples for the first time.

We arrived to our train no problem, and I had an arm around her, sharing earbuds from her phone, playing some music. We each had one ear free for any possible encounters with monsters, but with luck, there won't be any. I've noticed the further east we are, the less monsters we encounter. Sure, we have had a few, but it was a lot better than home. We may be living in Japan for the year, but camp will always be home to us. "You've been keeping up with your studies, right?"

"You already know I have been. You and I literally go over the notes once a week. We share most of our classes too, so how would I be able to slack off?"

"I'm just checking. I don't want you to fall behind- it'll push our plans back."

"I'm well aware. I've been putting more focus in biology for it too, but I'd rather not get too ahead for college."

"Understandable. Honestly, if it wasn't for the fact I needed licensing and permits, along with proof of study, I don't think I'd bother with college." I raised a brow. This was new to me. "I'd go straight into the field if I could."

"You wouldn't even think about majoring in anything else?"

"What would I major in? Architecture's been my passion since I was small."

"I guess I can understand that. I'm just hoping I won't mess it up for us and get kicked out."

"You'll have me by your side. We've made it this long, so why wouldn't this work for us?" This almost seemed like a perfect spot to propose, but it would be a little weird.

"You're right, it will." I smiled and kissed her forehead. She giggled. The ride was fairly long, and she got more and more curious on where we were going with each passing stop. Yeah, I kinda didn't tell her exactly where we were going, just to pack for an overnight trip. Hey! I want to surprise her! How else was I supposed to do that? I looked at the stops, and tried to remember which was the right one. If my memory serves correct, I think it's the next one.

And my memory was right. Our stop was the next one. We got off, and got some drinks after that long ride. After that, I finally revealed where we were when I gave her a pamphlet of all the places we could go. "Annabeth, welcome to Karuizawa." Her eyes widened at the photos. She looked at me in disbelief. "Well? Where to first?"

Our first stop was the kasuke restaurant for some lunch. We had been on the train for a few hours and were both pretty hungry. But after, we went on a trolly to get acquainted with the city. I messed with the ring in my pocket, seeing some waterfalls. Perfect. I knew we had to come back here before the day was over, but in the meantime, we had this, then temple tours.

The temple tours weren't the worst thing, but they also weren't the most interesting to me. But to Annabeth, they were fascinating. She loved learning about the history of each temple, and admiring how it was built, trying to see how she would do it, and how she would possibly restore it one day. I thought it was adorable how she was going crazy over them. As the day went on, we got some street food, and I brought her over to the waterfall from earlier, and we sat on a bench to eat. When we finished, I offered to throw out our trash, and she let me. I could see the gears turning in her head as the sun set while I walked back to her. I saw a fruit stand and got an idea. I bought an apple quickly, and hurried over to her. "Hey wise girl!" She looked up from her daze of thinking. "Think fast!" I tossed the apple at her, and she caught it. I smiled, and she looked confused. She stared at the apple for a minute, and I got the ring into my hand.

"Percy, you know I told you years ago what this meant-" She paused as she saw me get on one knee. I held the ring in my hand, presenting it to her.

"I was listening." She gaped her mouth, as if she was trying to say something, but no words were coming out. "Wise girl- Annabeth Chase, will you marry me?" I waited as she got herself together, before tears filled her eyes.

"Yes!"
