As much as Gulf wanted to snap, he remained calm and collected. He had a reputation to keep. He can't just let other people here in his daughter's engagement party to see his bad side.
Instead, he meets Lani and Bosser with a smile.

They are Mew's friends while he studied in the US, so Gulf got to know them as well.

"Welcome.. How's the trip?" Gulf hugged and kissed Lani on the cheek, and then he shook hands with Bosser.

"Exhausting as ever, I still have a jetlag." Lani said, her words drips in sophistication.

"Actually, we tagged along a schoolmate before," Bosser said, but before he could call that someone, Mew came, and he noticed her.

"Sterling? Wow.. Is that you? How are you?" Mew was surprised.

Gulf flinch. He balled his fist. So Mew knows her. They know each other. What in the world? How? Is this a joke of fate?

"Baby.. She's our schoolmate before. I'm just thrilled to see her after a long time." Mew whispered at Gulf when he noticed the permanent frown on his face.

"I'm fine." Sterling nodded, internally feeling an outcast. Mew was her crush back then on their college days.

She didn't want to ruin the moment, Lani just bumped at her yesterday and dragged her here.

Gulf sighs. He manages to get a grip of himself.

"Get inside, guys. we are still on the gates. Make yourself comfortable." He smiled at everyone.

Jillian met her parents, and she kissed them both. Then she walked with Lani and Bosser hand in hand.

Gulf can't erase the growing doubt on him that having Sterling as their surrogate is intentional. This is far from being coincident.

They walk to the backyard where the party start to hype up.

Tharn saw his parents with Jillian's parents, so he guided Type to go to them.

"Welcome, Aunt Lani, Uncle Bosser.. This is my wife, Type."

"Hello dear, you look.." Laarnie paused for a bit,  "healthy."

"I am pregnant." Type proudly reply. "with twins."

"Wow.. How is that possible?" Lani's eyes widen in shock.

"I had a transplant." Type answered politely. He didn't elaborate, knowing Lani is Jillian's mother.

Bosser looks at the pregnant male intently. He felt something unusual. Like his blood rushing to his heart.

"You look familiar." he said to Type.

"A lot of people said so, Sir. But I look like my mother, Sir. But she had already passed away." Type smiled a little. He felt familiarity with Bosser.

Tharn noticed the familiar middle-aged woman on their back.
"Hey, it's you! Remember me? I'm the one looking for a cotton fruit with one seed?" He smiled widely.

Sterling flinched, but she managed to smile. "Yes, I actually remembered you, congratulations.."

Gulf gritted his teeth.
He can't take this anymore.

The tension filled on the air was gone when Josiah's father went to the small platform and called the attention of  Mew and Gulf.

The couple joined in, and they discussed the main reason for this party.

After announcing the engagement, people started to eat, and some were just talking and dancing.

Type look around. He can never get used to this social lifestyle. He is sheltered, he didn't even go to the gay bars, he doesn't have friends.

This is all new to him.
He felt his babies move, alternately kicking. At this stage, they are getting hyper each day. And this made him happy. At least he is sure that the twins are healthy.

Gulf looked around, and he saw Sterling just watching Tharn and Thorn from afar. He walked to her slowly, and he secretly pulled Sterling to the dark side of the garden.

"What do you think you're doing?" Gulf said in his stern voice, restraining his anger. The veins of his neck are showing.

"Nothing.. I am just taking the opportunity to be this close to my sons." Sterling looks down. She doesn't want trouble.

"They are not your son, stop your being delusional, Sterling. You are a surrogate. A paid vessel to carry somebody else's child. You don't have any DNA on them, so stop claiming that you are the mothe." Gulf almost shouted in anger.

"Why are you so triggered, Director? It is not that I will take them away from you. They have been with you in 30 years now. Why not share them with me? I am old now, too.. Spare me the happiness that you have.. Even just a little." Sterling wiped her tears. "I will not take them away.. I just want to feel how it is to be a mother.. The moment I carried them on my womb was the last, after I gave birth, my uterus got damaged. My fiancee left me after he found out that I was not able to give birth. The money you paid me was used for my medication. I admit, I like Mew since college, but he clearly said to me that he loved and kept loving you. So I gave up. Then my friend was a nurse in UCLA, and your mother asked them if they knew someone else who wanted to be a surrogate, After I knew that it was Mew. I presented myself. "

Gulf felt his heart clench. The information is too much for him. He rubbed his left chest, and he gasped for breath.

Sterling got alarmed, and she helped Gulf to sit and call Tharn.

Good thing the guests started to leave after Gulf passed out.

He's on their master bedroom when he wake up. Type was sitting beside his bed, watching him.

Type immediately lean close when he saw Gulf was awake.

"Papa, are you okay?" He reached to hold Gulf's hand.

"Yes.. How did I end up here?"

"You passed out, good thing, Dr. Ella was here. She helped revive you. She said you had a minor cardiac arrest."
Type explained.

He's been keeping all things to himself, and it is suffocating.

How will he ever hold it all together all by himself?
