Ghost and I stood at the road close to the church. It was a brightly lit building which was a change from the rest of the town. We walked quietly through the shadows to avoid running into any of Graves' men. Ghost held his hand up to stop me from waking any further, I stopped in my tracks just behind him as we waited for the two shadows to walk past us.
I held my breath as they started to shine their flashlights around the place, searching for somebody to shoot at.
"This is Bravo 7-1, In the blind...how copy? Ghost, this is 7-1, do you copy?" A familiar Scottish accent came faintly through the radio on Ghost's chest. My heart jolted in my chest at the sound of my brother's tired voice. He was still alive.
Even though I was happy to hear from my brother, it really wasn't the best time. One of the Shadows heard and spun around to see what the noise was. His flashlight shone straight at Ghost and I. Before he could pull out his gun I brought my hand back and threw my knife straight at him. The knife jammed into his throat and the man fell to the ground. He was dead within seconds.
Ghost quickly moved to take out the other shadow, making sure that no one else heard the commotion. I took in a deep shaky breath and averted my eyes from the dead officer. Even though I was only protecting myself and Ghost, it didn't make it feel any better.
"Soap- This is Ghost, how copy?" Ghost said into the radio. I held my breath as I waited for Johnny to reply, praying that he was okay. Ghost looked over at me as he spoke into the radio again."Johnny...?"
The longer Johnny took to reply, the more nervous I got. I fiddled with my fingers nervously as I stared into Ghost's deep brown eyes.
"Johnny...how copy?" Ghost repeated again.
"Solid." Johnny finally replied through the radio. I let out a shaky sigh of relief at the sound of his voice.
"Thought we lost you." Ghost replied, I could see the relief shining through his eyes.
Ghost beckoned with his gloved hand for me to follow after him as we started to walk towards the church.
"You injured?" Ghost asked as we quietly walked up a set of stairs towards the church building.
"What's the difference?" Johnny asked
"Life or death." Ghost stated firmly. "Keep your blood in, you'll need every drop."
"Thanks for the tip." Johnny replied sarcastically. Ghost suddenly pulled the radio off of his vest and handed it over to me. I gently took it in my hands and pressed the button on the side.
"Johnny?" I called gently
"Y/n, are you okay?" He asked, I could hear the relief in his voice.
"Yeah, I'm good. Are you?" I asked him softly
"Yeah, I'm a bit banged up but I'll be okay. You better look after my sister LT." Johnny said
"You have my word Johnny." Ghost said as he gently took the radio out of my hand and attached it back to his vest.
"Where are you?" Johnny asked
"There's a church, we're heading to it. Let's RV there." Ghost said as we came closer to another corner. "You'll have to improvise to survive."
"Graves and shadow are on a killing spree." Johnny said in a hushed tone.
"Looking for Hassan." Ghost replied
"Hassan and us..." Johnny said
My feet were starting to ache badly from my lack of foot wear. We had passed a clothing store but I decided that right now wasn't the ideal time to get a new outfit and a pair of shoes.
