"Tell me, when did your winning smile begin to look like a smirk?" - Taylor Swift
"Mhmm.." I grumble as my alarm beeps continuously.
I open my eyes and get out of bed. For a while now I haven't been able to get any sleep. It's mostly just staring at the ceiling. Im surprised I even fell asleep even if it was only for a couple of hours. I choose an outfit from my closet after I brush my teeth. I decided to go with a blue top with grayish dark blue jeans and lay them on the counters of my bathroom. I start my shower and wash my body, with hot water of course. That's just something I can't understand for some people. Like how can you take a cold shower. "They say cold waters better for your skin." I silently mimic in my head. Then please explain why hot water feels so good.
I throw my clothes on after my shower and apply a thin layer of mascara. I look in the mirror and my brown hair falls down right to my waist as I'm brushing it. " Okay, school, not that hard." Its not like I haven't been to school but last year I missed out on my junior year. My own parents used all their money to send my brother to some shitty private school. So I had to stay at home and take online classes. Worst of all is that my brother doesn't even do good in school, at least in our school. Well technically our old school now.
Our old school caught on fire by some freshman trying to microwave a bowl of macaroni and cheese. You might think "Oh what's the problem with that?" He left his metal spoon in there. So in conclusion everyone from my old school had all their information, transcripts and ect. transferred to the school nearest to them. Although most of the parents decided "It wasn't safe!" and sent their kids to a completely different school in another town and my only friends were victims of that. I can't say I'm surprised it didn't happen to me but, my parents couldn't give less of a shit about me.
"OWH!" I got the last knot out of my hair.
I run down the stairs to see my brother eating breakfast.
"Mornin'" I nod my head towards him and he returns with a mouthful of food.
"Morning."
I take a peak at the table and can tell my parents didn't bother to make any for me. This has happened many times and it's always "Sorry I forgot." You'd think your own blood would remember you were alive.
Even if my brother gets the special treatment he still loves me and I know that he can't help the fact that Mom and Dad love him more. Yet it definitely put a wedge in our relationship.
My brother takes a quick note of my face and offers me toast.
I shake my head at him "I don't have an appetite right now." I lie.
"You sure?" He says.
I nod my head as a reply and walk away.
The real reason behind it is the fact that one of the only times my mother speaks to me is to tell me how I'm getting heavier, or even putting me on a scale.
