"2 AM, here we are. See your face, hear my voice in the dark." - Taylor Swift
Today is reminding me a lot of how it used to be like to have a job.
Having to be awake at such an early time. Tonight, it was easy to fall asleep. After what happened on Friday it gave me a warmth. A soft of feeling that lulled me to sleep. My and Greyson left shortly after eating. Surprisingly the teacher came back and kicked Greyson out, saying he wasn't supposed to be there. Greyson sadly even gave me a lecture of how I needed to stay in school if I wanted to keep my spot on the team. Including his very (not really) hurtful jokes which I insisted on giving comebacks with worse meanings.
I stretch my back against the counter. I've been here since 5 in the morning and it's now- I look up at the clock. 12. I finish work around 4. It isn't the worst place to be. Training wasn't exactly how I thought it would be. It was more like "this is what you do and how you do it" while throwing me into a workplace.
"Oops sorry sorry, I'm late!" A girl pushes herself through doors, getting to the back of the counter. She punches in and staggers towards my counter. "Whew. That is a workout."
She leans her self on the counter, mirroring me. Her hair is dyed a light purple and her face is framed with bangs. She turns to me. Her eyes are beautiful. They're a shade of green and her facial structure is sharp. She can't be older than 20. "You new?" Her lips are plump and parted.
She's pretty. I don't know if words can explain her. Pretty isn't enough. "Gorgeous." The lips come from my lips before I can stop them. "Awh shucks." She smiles and laughs.
"Sorry! Sorry!" I say realizing I've been staring at her. "I just started today if that's what you were asking before." I wave my hand off.
"Ah, your Alex?" She says while taking a box of books.
"Alexandra." I correct, smiling.
"Welp now your new nickname is Alex." She huffs, putting the box on the chair next to her.
She takes the books and organizes them on the shelf. In the middle of placing a book down she turns to face me. "Oh and not to confuse you but Im not exactly into girls." She says awkwardly.
"Oh! I know. I mean- I don't know. It's just that- Im not either. You're just really gorgeous."
She laughs. "So I've heard"
"Plus I'm only 18-"
"Really?" She gasps. "I wouldn't have known. You look 20."
"I don't know if I should take that as a complement."
"It is. Im 23 and I feel old."
"If it makes you feel better I thought you were 20." I give her a pointed look.
